Once Upon a Time...
2

Tried something a little bit different givind Mull's Duart Castle a dreamy-fairy taleĀ feeling. Starting with shooting at f.2, focusing not on the castle but on the grass lighten by the sun, then processing with a sort of Orton effect, hope U like it

Would have been nice if something more interesting than the grass had been in focus. Maybe a knight or a pretty medieval lass.

I really like the tones/color of what you did along with the composition, but I would really have preferred to see the castle in focus. It's where the eye wants to go and it's blurry.

Pretty cool, you'd almost swear it was a really good matte panting!

That is a really beautiful castle.

That was my first thought when viewed as posted. Nice job.

By coincidence, I was shooting a castle deep in the heart of Texas today: not quite so old, 15 yrs to be precise, made of cinder (breeze) blocks by a local businessman and his helper!

Re: Once Upon a Time...

thank You for the kind comments. Duart Castle stands pride near the coast of the island of Mull, it's an ancient castle, used by the Clan Maclean, and of couse very often photographed.

In this case I wanted not to focus on the castle, to give a deep sense of dreamy-distance for the ones who look at the photo. Glad You like it!

Very beautiful! With the dramatic clouds that's cool. And the castle is of course great. I will go in September in the south of England, I hope to pictures like this.

Thank You Ines, You'll surely do even better photos! For the south of England ask Lea Tippet, he is the "master" of the scene there!!

Re: Once Upon a Time...

Wonderful Marco.

Your photo has that something about it.

Great colours too.

Here's one from me from my visit to Scotland in 2011.

Taken at Castle Stalker.

Kind regards Lea.

The other great thing about the way you shot it is that you really get a sense of it being from another time, by focusing (literally) on the present, and leaving the past as slightly blurry and distant...
