D7000 secondary mode dial stiff/stuck

My D7000's secondary mode dial has become very stiff and sometimes stuck.  (By secondary mode dial I am referring to the little one changing frame rate, remote mode, mirror up etc.)  It's just about turnable, and when settings are selected it still works but it's difficult.  Just curious as to what might have caused it if anybody has any guesses?  Also I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions as to what I could I could try to loosen it up to save sending it to Nikon and being without it for a fortnight?  (Yes I'm aware WD-40 isn't an option :-))

Thanks

Re: D7000 secondary mode dial stiff/stuck

This has happened to me (out of warranty), and I've "fixed" it temporarily by giving it a good twirl - hold down the lock and rack it from end to end a few times... I hope that fixed it, rather than knocking something off it or working gunk into the camera, but it seems to work nicely now and the problem hasn't recurred.
