Nikon P310 vs P330 sample shot
Apr 13, 2013

After hesitating over the P330 vs Oly XZ-10 I ended up going for the P330 to replace my P310

The bigger sensor and the WU-1a wireless adapert made me pick the P330

For any of those looking to upgrade from the P310 to P330 here is a shot of today's overcast sky.

The P330 definately has a lot more detail.

Much better metering and/or dynamic range. It'd be interesting to see you take a few comparison shots on full manual- same ISO, aperture, and shutter. Thanks for sharing!

330 too dark , I would go for 310.

Exposure not the same...
In reply to Jose AC, Apr 14, 2013

The P330 photo contains more of the sky in it, that's most likely why the exposure was reduced in comparison to P310 shot and why the P330 shot looks better IMHO.

Too dark? Simple composition or metering compensation.

Lack of detail? Nothing you can do. Silly reason to make the 310 better than the 330.

Poor way of making an IQ conclusion to say the least....

Nikon P310 vs P330 take 2

This is as good / laboratory as it gets for me.

Same aperture and shutter,

both at widest focal length and lowest iso available.

I have always liked the low light performance from the P310, the P330 really improves on detail and color rendition.

P310

P330

There have been a lot of comments regarding the P330 feeling light and cheap... I get the light part, but cheap feeling it is not.

Four minutes apart? That's a mile of difference....

Why not use their self-timers, and take really identical shots?

But certainly would be nice if the P330 did have better performance in such conditions - that's one of my biggest disappointments with its predecessor!

Better contrast, too.  And it holds detail well in the shadows.  This is an excellent sensor for a 1/1.7".

I would agree, except for how well the 330 renders detail in the shadows.

310 looks good on it own, until you compare it to the 330 shot.  Colors & contrast make the 310 shot look a little lifeless in comparison.

IMHO, a lot of people seem to think light = cheap. This is case in a million different areas. Ultralight backpacking cured me of this disorder.
