DxO: sensor X20 tests the same as the X10
Apr 10, 2013

DxO just tested the XF1, which has the same sensor of the X20. Results are the same, except for the X20 being slightly less good in low light.

XF1 does not have the same sensor as X20 but the same 12MP sensor the X10 has ... so this test result is no surprise ... other than the low light. Plus it's a bit misleading in that the X10s lens is sharper/better.

You are right, I don't know what made me think that the XF1 and X20 shared sensors. Oh well, my apologies.

Come on who takes DXO mark seriously? Are they providing now images they have used for their comparisons? If not, it is just plain crap IMHO.

No prob the site is interesting to compare other cameras though ... looks like the XF1 is really good for a pocketable cam.

I take them seriously. I find their figures correlate well with my own impressions of the image quality of cameras.

Same here.

I can't help but laugh, as for every person who completely dismisses the DXOmark there seems to be someone who doesn't take sample images of the same scene from different cameras and lenses seriously.

Just to be clear: this entire thread is premised on a completely false presumption.

The XF1 does not have the same sensor. In addition, I believe that the EXR sensor is not back-illuminated, which means that the X20 could possibly have more DR and low-light/high-ISO performance.

Liz.
