Nikon D7100 and nikon 80-400 G lens whoa!!
Apr 6, 2013

Well I shoot the little birds around my office with my D800E and the new 80--400 G lens and I am generally happy with the result...But, crazily enough I got the D7100, put on the 80-400G lens and took this little bird...and there is no sharpening, no post at all just a slight crop and it is JPEG OOC. Really couldn't ask for a better photo of this bird...this is pretty good stuff  that camera nuts can now take advantage of.

I like it, great colors and contrast. Is it a crop? If so, you could put bird a bit to right and down, maybe effect would be nice.

It might be interesting to see the same bird shot with the same lens but with the two different cameras, cropping the D800 shot after to approximate the D7100's field of view.  Might need a more stable subject.

What sharpening level was your Picture Control set to?
In reply to johncecilian, Apr 6, 2013

When you say there was no sharpening, it is not clear to me what you mean. I am going to guess that this jpeg had level 3 sharpening applied. If it is set on zero sharpening, this camera is phenomenal
