sigma 70-200 vs nikon 80-200
Apr 5, 2013

I own these two lenses:

-sigma 70-200 mmD EX DG HSM f/2.8
-nikon 80-200 f/2.8 D

And I don't know which one to keep.

What criteria should I look into before choosing?
And how much are these two worth?

I have a Nikon D7100 body.

Nikon D7100

I'd keep the 80-200 cause it's a nikon and because it performs extremely well, at least mind did...

You sale both on eBay and can get Nikon AFS70-200mm VR I you will get about$550 for Sigma $650 for Nikon but mint AFS70-200f2.8 VR I used can be found for about $1150-1300. If you plan to keep one of them Keep Sigma as it is HSM and over all newer and better than Nikon AFD80-200mm unless you have AFS80-200f2.8 D which is fine zoom and you shod keep it.

I shoot with the 80-200 AF-D, but do not have any experience with the Sigma, so I think I should be asking you which one you'd keep, not the other way around. I believe only you can answer that question since you have both lenses, but I will say I have no reason to consider trading my Nikkor for any other third party lens, especially for the money I would get by selling it. I'll stick with what I've got for a while since the 80-200 (2-ring) has been a robust workhorse that hasn't failed me yet.

I own nikon 80-200 AF(the first 2-ring version).
The focus is a bit faster with nikon and its also better.

The sigma is also D version. Its has slower focus but it makes less sound. Nikon is quite loud.

How could I test for sharpness to see which one is better?
