Whats considered a high shutter count for a used D7000?
Mar 28, 2013

Just picked up a refurbd D7000 from Adorama, its my first DSLR in several years and the price was too good to pass up. D7000 and the price dropped 18-300 was just under my budget.

Question is about the shutter count. Unit looks brand new, not a scratch or mark on it. The shutter count though shows 3900 which is somewhat higher than most of the posts here.

Still seems low though and again the unit looks brand new.

I believe the D7000 has a life expectancy of around 100k - 200k (150k is what I usually see) actuations. So your camera is essentially less than 5% used.

Someone who shoots a lot can go through that many shutter actuations in less than a month, so I wouldn't be at all concerned unless the shutter count was 50K or so.

Shutter will go to 150,000 so even at 50,000 if you get a good deal you should get 5years out of camera.

He's got more than 3900 just in pictures of Lacie in headgear

Depending on price, used is a pretty good option as well right now.

I too just picked up a nice looking used D7000 from a reputable local photography store. I was hoping the shutter count was less than 20k and was thrilled to find out it was less than 3500.

Enjoy your camera!

I've seen some bodies for sale with shutter counts as high as 150K

under 4K is quite low
