Very nice!

I shoot with the Bigma, as well.  Good to see that it seems to work well with the D7100, since I'm CONSIDERING buying one in a while, after the "bugs" get worked out.

Thanks for sharing!

Few if any bugs with this release, only seen a couple of issues - seems to be only the odd error camera.

OP - Nice shots, good to see a 3rd party lenses working so well.

Re: When Nikon 7100 meets Sigma 50-500mm OS

Thanks for sharing more great 50-500 OS pics. I also own this lens and a D7000 and it has become my walk around lens because of its incredible versatility and sharpness. Anticipating picking up a 7100 soon. How does it do with the "2x" mode on the 50-500?

Nice shots! Thats amazing sharpness/detail, a lot better than I would expect from a lens with such big zoom.

Re: When Nikon 7100 meets Sigma 50-500mm OS

thanx for sharing, I use the Bigma OS on a D300s, also mainly for birding and was very curious to see how it would work with a hirez sensor. You convinced me, the pictures are excellent.

Can you tell a bit more about the max. frame rate? Is the small buffer really a big bottleneck?

cheers, Frank

... thanks.  The 1.3 mode or what you called "2x" mode works great with 50-500, which becomes a 100-1000 mm lens !!

Re: When Nikon 7100 meets Sigma 50-500mm OS

Very nice pictures.  I'm sure it goes without saying that these were taken at a Zoo of some sort and not your backyard!

Question, though, is I notice that the EXIF data on these (and many other pics here on DPR) show the shutter speed as 10/something, instead of 1/something.  Why is that?  Is 10/2500 really 1/250?

Thanks for sharing.  They really inspire me to check out one of these lenses.  I have the Nikon 80-400mm.  Would you say the 50-500mm Sigma has better OS than the Nikon VR?

... thanks.  As regards the shutter speed, I wondered if it was DPR's own software issue.  Obviously 10/2500 is exact the same as 1/250 !

I had a 300mm f2.8 VR ll BUT I think Sigma's OS system is 'better' !
