Hi,

What Digital Camera's review talked about noise in their review, which was a little unnerving, so it's a relief to see that the DXO comparison is favorable for the 24Mps sensor, this bodes well for the upcoming new Pentax. Also shows that the K5 variants are still up there with the best of them!

Hi David !

"the DXO comparison is favorable for the 24Mps sensor..."

If I have read correctly GordonBgood, he warned us! And it was not a foregone conclusion, about how we often underestimate the pace of technological progress.

I didn't realize Pentax was cranking out over 14 ev with the IIs it will be interesting to see what they do with the new 24mp sensor.

My error I thought the K5 was at 13.5ev but it is the same 14.1 ev

It depends which of the DxOMark measures you look at, Dean.  The "Screen" measure is based on 100% view of the image; for the K-5 it is 13.6EV.  The "Print" measure is based on a print 8x12" at 300 dpi, which equates to 100% for an 8MP sensor; for the K-5 it is 14.1EV.

The Print measure is generally more useful because it brings all sensors back to equal viewing conditions so comparisons are more meaningful.  In practice, unless you print at the size and dpi stated the DR you get will be slightly different from what's quoted but that's hardly relevan in practice.
