Photo lab with oversized mounting backing?
Mar 28, 2013

I would like to find a photo lab that will mount an 8 x 12 print  onto a larger backing (is that the right term?), say 11 x 14 or 12 x16 so that I can mat and frame it myself. None of the popular web photo labs seem to have that option.  All the offered options for mounting I have found so far have the backing the same size as the print.

So, I figured out a workaround.  I placed my 8x12 print on a 12x16 (actually 12x18 and will have to trim as they don't offer 12x16) canvas and sent that to MPIX to be printed and mounted.  Unfortunately, I have to pay for a much larger print, but I think it's still less expensive than having it dry mounted at a local framing shop.
