D7100 buffer too small
Mar 25, 2013

I got this body few days ago and I was familiar with the lack of a nice buffer.
BUT! The buffer specs claim to shoot atleast 6 photos in a burst. My camera does as much as 3 in RAW and 4 in jpeg(all modes).
What could be wrong?

Nikon D7100

Make sure you have distortion control turn off, high ISO NR turn off and ADL off.

And make sure that you're using at least a 45MB/sec card, 95MB/sec if you want the absolute maximum buffer throughput for continuous bursts.  Search in this forum for a recent thread on buffer size vs. card speed.

+1

You should always buy the biggest, fastest cards you can afford.  Personally I would never buy anything below 95MB/sec for a camera like the D7100 or any body that was UHS-1 compliant.
