It's a great sensor, isn't it

In my mind, its the best all around sensor in any dslr, IMO. I would love to see it in a upscaled body someday, but i have no real complaints about the D600, basically a baby d3x for under 2 grand. Nice shots, the kit lens looks prett good.

Thanks.  I've been very happy with the kit lens.  It's better than I thought it would be.

I love the high ISO performance of this sensor.  It's outstanding.  I just need some nice lenses now.

Re: Some D600 Photos

I tried to complain, but there is no check-box for "not fair that this guy has found such nice subjects when it is cold and wet most everywhere I go".

Thanks for the post and photos! It IS a great body and your post shows this.

Hope you can grab some nice(r) glass during the rebate. You know how to use it.

Thanks :-)

I'm afraid I'll have to wait awhile longer to get another lens.  What I really need most is a good all-purpose 'vacation' lens like the 28-300.  I'm thinking about selling one or two of the micro 4/3 lenses I have to help speed up the funding.  I don't use my Olympus OM-D now that I have the D600.

How do you find the focus spot on?

Re: Thanks :-)

I think it focuses very well.  The only thing I wish was different (like many people) is to have the focus points spread across more of the frame instead of being packed so tightly in the center.  I can work around it, but occasionally it can be annoying.  I almost always choose the focus point and don't let the camera decide for me.

Awesome work, well-done! It's good to see some here still can get their cameras to work nicely for the purpose they were made.

Hmm, this makes me want one ... and I have some nice lenses, like the 105 f/2.8 VR and a good old 35mm f/2.

My opinion also, mine focused good in good light, but back focused in warm light. Great photos, keep up

Lovely shots.

The 24-120 f4 that according to the recent DXO mark scored a venerable 4th place as the best zoom for the mega sensor of the D800 is an awesome option for the D600 for just 700 bucks.

It is currently $300 off and you can easily sell your 24-85 for $300 on Ebay.

I have that combo and I love it.

Just my 2 cents

Thanks!  I've cleaned my sensor a few times even though the dust wasn't showing in my photos.  It might appear if I do certain types of photos, but it's never been a real problem for me...so I'm just enjoying the camera

Like then all, but in particular #2 (b&w airplane). These would all make wonderful prints. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Some D600 Photos

When I cleaned it, the before test shot did look dirtier than I'm used to seeing on any other camera I've used.

Very nice set. The 'plane ones were OK, but I really liked the abstract landscapes.

Lovely series. I liked the plane shots - no dust on fuselage!

The flowers are very well done too. Excellent series.

Re: It's a great sensor, isn't it

I really like the photos - they are excellent.

I'm kinda amazed at the performance of the 24-85mm kit lens, especially with the bokeh in some of the shots.

I would never have believed those were possible with this lens.  I had read some reviews of the lens saying it's just 'good' and doesn't make the most of the D600's sensor in terms of resolution, but unless you've spent ages in post processing I would be more than happy with the lens if those are the types of pics it's capable of.
