DPR login with Android
Mar 21, 2013

I recently got a Samsung Galaxy 10-1-inch Tab2 with Android 4.1.1 and am using it with the default internet browser to read the messages on DPR.  However, if I try to login to DPR in order to write a thread my login information is rejected with the message "Login failed: Incorrect email or password".  This is the same password and email I use on my Windows 7 desktop and Mac Mini computers and they login fine.  Why am I having this problem?  How does one login to DPR using an Android tablet?

I log in without problems on my android phone and tablet, so I don't think it's an android issue as such. Try deleting your history, cookies and internet cache, and see if you can log in then.

I'm on an Android tablet right now.   No problems logging in.

I deleted the cache, cookies and history from the default internet browser on my Samsung Android 4.1.1 tablet and am still unable to login to DPR.  I continue to get the message that I have an incorrect email or password.  However, they work OK with my Windows 7 and Mac OSX computers.

Thanks,

I have the DPR login problem only with my Samsung Android tablet.  I have no problems with my Windows 7 or Mac OSX computers.  Is there an email address for support/help from DPR?

There are quite a few function where Android does not work yet other operating systems function fine.  For instance, I can not hear the sound from my QuickTime videos on my tablet, yet they play OK on both Windows and Mac OSX computers.  I can not even find a QuickTime APP on the Google Play Store.

Morning,

I just logged in from my Galaxy S2 with no problems - sometimes the keyboard will start with Caps turned on.  Could be your issue?  The stock browser is rubbish (imo) anyway.  Perhaps try downloading Dolphin or Chrome which are both free and try logging in using those.

QuickTime is not supported out of the box by Android, as far as I am aware - it is an Apple technology after all so not surprising.  I understand that MX player will play quicktime files though, and this is free too.

Thanks Karl for your help.  I have MX Player on my Samsung tablet.  It will play QuickTime videos silently, but has no audio.  This is not a problem with both my Windows 7 and Mac OSX computers. Microsoft Windows does allow one to play QuickTime after installing the Windows version of QuickTime, but I guess there is none for Android. The typing on the tablet was correct with no capitals as it should be.  I have tried both the default browser and Firefox browser for Android to login to DPR and both failed.

Sorry that this hasn't been resolved. I think someone from XDA Developers may be able to help you out.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

Thank you Cailean so much for your help.  I went to the XDA Developers web-site and did a search for "playing QuickTime on Android" and was told that the APP:
QQ Player
would play the QuickTime .mov videos.  It is free and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.  And, yes it does work fine playing videos with both picture and sound (MX player would not play the sound in QuickTime).  It is unfortunate that Android does not build this function into their OS.  Also, I doubt that many Android users know how to play QuickTime on their phones and tablets.

The default android key board may be putting a space in the email address, mine does this *sometimes* ie.    @gmail. com instead of @gmail.Com

I'd suggest trying chrome, no idea why it isn't the default browser. No one else is having any issues with android log in, I can only recommend making sure the case and punctuation of both email and password are correct

I have tried the Chrome browser on my Windows computer and do not like it.  I think the problem, at least for me, is that DPR offers no technical support.  I doubt that not being able to log into DPR is a browser problem as I can login OK with Firefox on Windows 7, but not Android 4.1.1 with the Firefox version for Android.
