Lack of posted JK Kodak information
Mar 20, 2013

Found this on another website:

http://digital.yesky.com/digikp/Kodak2013xpfbh/

From searching, I found the AZ361 36x zoom bridge camera has a price of 1499 Yuan, or about $242. As a comparison, the Z990 was $271. Funny thing - the lens in one picture says "Pixpro" and in another picture "Retinar" is obviously edited over it.

Still no information on the S1 micro four thirds camera.

Very interesting. Did you notice that in one of the photos below, the area behind the businessmen is covered with "Pixpro/Kodak" logo-like lithography?  I gather the Pixpro name resonates with Chinese consumers as much or more than Kodak, or else the company is trying to make it do that.

Alas, the Kodak/Pixpro bridge camera looks like a simplified, auto-everything mass-market model aimed at snapshooters. No EVF or optical finder, just the LCD. I hope the micro four thirds model will be designed for enthusiasts.

The rest of the camera world has Finepix, Coolpix, Rebel, EOS, and so on, so JK Kodak of course needs something to replace Easyshare.  Or maybe Easyshare translated to "wife-swap" in Chinese.

Yes, it looks more like a point and shoot than a real bridge.   From the likely mock-up of the S1 micro four thirds, it looks like there is an add-on EVF for the top.  Let's hope it does reasonably well when the reviewers compare it to the OM-D or whatever unfair comparison they'll make.  Rumors say it may have a Sony sensor - who knows?

Apparently, the Kodak Pixpro AZ361 just hit the US markets today.  I saw a price of $199 on HSN.

Still no updates on the S1 micro four thirds camera.

For what it is worth.

On our CBS TV Station @11 PM news, was a short blurb that the "New Kodak Camera" was now available at the Home Sopping Network  for $200 US. All I caught was 16mp.

Probably more news in the morning newspaper. After all Rochester, NY is still the home of Kodak.

Todd, would you care to let us know your findings after receiving the camera?

I think many "old" Kodak users are very curious!

Thanks!!

I will be interested in what kind of warranty this new camera has and where, if a problem, do you get it fixed.

My only Kodak is a z-990.( an old Olympus user) The first one lasted 3 months and a call to Kodak ended in a big run-around. Our Bliix08 put me into another z-990 and it has been working great.

MY z-990 was made in "Vietnam" per the plate on the bottom of the camera. So a "Kodak Label"on this new camera will be different, yet the same?

I am an old Kodak user myself, having owned the P880, Z712, etc.  Will report back in a few days...HSN sold over 15,000 of them so maybe some others will chime in too.

And there's already a firmware update for it...

The "AZ" stands for "Astro Zoom".

Here's another new one - the Kodak "Pro."

http://thenewcamera.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Kodak-Pro-Compact_filtered.jpg

"Today kodak also announced Pro Compact camera with 1/1.7 inch sensor, 28 -112mm F1.7-F2.4 lens." - and it can use an external flash.

Time for some C875 comparisons, I guess...

No word on megapixels or type of sensor.

Has a pretty neat retro look which I like. Sensor is a bit small. I wonder who makes the lens?

Pity it took some blow in company to come up with a Kodak that actually looks like a real camera, Kodak should have produced something like that years ago and they might still be in the camera business.

If the IQ is up to scratch and the price is reasonable I could be in the market for the Kodak Pro.

That's a very interesting history in terms of its collaboration with these other camera firms. I had no idea. So it could be that the lens for the JK Kodak's will be of decent quality.

More JK Kodak news from a poorly Google translated website:

http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=it&ie=UTF-8&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dcfever.com%2Fnews%2Freadnews.php%3Fid%3D8331

This includes their S1 micro four thirds camera (shown with Olympus lenses, hinting at in-body image stabilization.)  No info on the sensor, previously rumored to be Sony.

Also shown, information on their 4x zoom f1.8 1/1.7 sensor camera, as well as their upcoming 52x zoom bridge and pocket camcorders.
