Sx50 "Reset all" not available?
Mar 19, 2013

Hi can anyone help please, I am trying to restore the default settings on my SX50 and have done so before so I am familiar with the menu and procedure.

Unfortunately the menu item "Reset all"  though present is  unlit and can not be selected in any mode.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Page 157 in downloadable *.pdf

To clear information you have saved to <C1> or <C2> and restore default values, turn the mode dial to <C1> or <C2> and choose [Reset ALL]

Also see page 211.

Access the [Reset All] screen.

Choose [Reset All], and then press the Func Set button.

Default settings are now restored.

I hope this helps you.

That is not the Problem I have on many occasions  Reset the camera to the default and am very familiar with the the menus, and how it is done.

The problem is that the "Reset All" option  in the tools menu is unlit or to put it another way not highlighted and therefore unselectable. No matter what mode is selected c1,m,p or anything else.

It's a bit of a tricky one ie: why is "Reset All" visable but not selectable?  It may well have been locked out by another settings change but by what?

Many Thanks for all Replies and suggestions,

Tony B.

I remember on my SX-40 the "Reset All" was also greyed out when using the EVF, but was not when using the LCD screen.

I just checked my SX40, and same here. Reset All is grayed out if EVF is in use, but is available when using LCD. So switch from EVF view to LCD and see if that fixes it.

Just confirmed the same with the SX50. "Reset All " is ONLY available on the LCD and is greyed out when using the EVF.

You want to have some fun? Go up one level and change your language once. Then try to do a "Reset All" .

Thanks, CSPoole

Awesome thank you very much!

As I wear glasses for reading and shoot surf photos out in the bright sun I rarely use the lcd screen spending most of my time squinting through the evf!

Many thanks to all who replied.

Anyone know what gets reset when you do a reset?

I notcie the date and language remains the default. Is it just certain menu and function fields?

Thanks
