Emergency! I need to unformat my SD card!
Mar 19, 2013

OK! Yesterday, my little son accidentally formatted my SD card which had held all my photos and songs. I know there is a way to restore them back. But, I don’t know what it is. Do you know it? Please, this is urgent! Thank you!

You had all of your stuff on a SD card??  No backups??

I can't figure out why people do that.

Yes! I also agree with the others that you should have make data backups before.

But, now, since you have formatted your photos without backups, I think a third-party recovery tool can be a good choice for you to get them back.

You could use a free memory card tool that can only let you restore 2GB data free. But it scans quick and deep:

http://www.freeware-fix.blogspot.com/2013/02/sd-card-picture-inaccessible.html

If it doesn’t works on your card, you could also try Recuva:

I simply hope you could restore your data completely and quickly.

Good luck!

dont worry, you can recover lost data from formatted SD card. I also accident formatted my SD card last time then I searched on Internet and found the SD card unformat solution. Take a look at this step by step sd card data recovery guide:

how to recover deleted formatted files from SD card

the SD card recovery guide is easy to follow and works well for me. So you may want to follow it to get back formatted files from SD card.

Thank you Kewl. I don't know why there has to be 'smart' answers and not just a plain solution like yours. Two Thumbs up for helping out.

Data recovery from SD card is possible if there are no read/write (overwritting) actions has been performed. I found myself lucky in getting pictures back from SanDisk SD card that gone bad accidentally. I've used Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery tool and it really helped me well in getting files back easily.

You can try a file recovery program which will attempt to get back your images. The data is probably still there, just as long as you don't take any pictures with that card.

carsonG is spamming
In reply to AnthonyL, 1 week ago

carsonG is spamming.

Look at the post history:

http://www.dpreview.com/members/3663348325/overview

Almost every post made lately is promoting the same site (sometimes an actual link, or sometimes a shortened .bit.ly link, or sometimes the web site name) in order to get more page hits for http://www.electrocomputerwarehouse.com/

For example, the post you're replying to in this thread contains a shortened link to that site (so that it's not as obvious that the posts are promoting a site selling computer gear):

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55136990

So, please tell me why a "shortened" .bi.ly link was included that points to site selling computer gear has anything to do with image recovery software.

Answer:it's very obvious to me that he's promoting that web site in posts.

If that member was only a satisfied customer (versus making the posts for personal gain of some type, or someone associated with that site), then we would not be seeing links to it added to posts in the way they have been (sometimes just the site name without http: in front, sometimes a valid link, sometimes a shortened .bi.ly link to make it less obvious that the site is being promoted in posts, even when the post has nothing to do with a site selling computer gear, as in the post you're replying to in this thread).

Or, look at this post:

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55137013

Or, this post:

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55137027

Or, this post:

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55131154

etc.

That member joined the forums here on January 5th of this year, and was careful to begin with (not being obvious that he wants to promote that site). But, lately, that member is being pretty bold about it.

It the poster was only a satisified customer and wanted to let others know about a given company, no problem.

But, that's not the pattern in this member's case -- the post pattern shows that he's promoting the site for personal gain of some type (sometimes responding to old threads, or including links to that site in threads that have nothing to do with someone looking for computer gear via shortened links to hide the intent, as in the post to this thread), in order to get more page hits for it.

Ditto (filed some complaints).

I used the Complaint button for the post in this thread made by carsonG

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55136990

I also used the Complaint button for this post in another thread made by carsonG

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55137503

Of course, there are a number of other posts made by carsonG that are promoting the same site.

So, hopefully, they'll see the post pattern (very obvious if you look at that member's post history) and get rid of this guy (or gal, as you never know about these things), as it's very obvious to me that this newer member is linking to that site for personal gain of some type.

I'm the forums manager/admin for another digital camera review site, and I see this kind of thing every day (people joining forums for the sole purpose of promoting a commercial site).
