Ilford's Gold Fibre Silk Packaging Problem - Very BAD Cost Cutting Idea

Hi Group,

I don't know if this problem applies in other countries, but in the US, all the new Gold Fibre Silk paper is arriving in the card board box without even a protective top sheet.  Paper has blemishes, cardboard dust and contaminates, etc.  I wrote Ilford via their website the following message, but probably won't do any good.  Anyone else upset about this ?

You owe it to yourself to at least try Canson Baryta Photographique 310.

I'd second the Canson baryta over the Ilford gfs, I also am liking the Red River San Gabriel as another alternative.

I totally agree. Those are the two papers I'm working with now as the GFS replacement.

I totally agree with you: the GFS "naked" packaging is totally disappointing.

The problem is that, at least in my country, the Canson is way more expensive than the Ilford...

Yes, same issue and wrote a nearly identical email to Ilford a couple of months ago.  Received a couple of polite responses asking about the paper sizes, but none of late.  Too bad, I think the paper is excellent, but hate to lose a couple of sheets in a box from damage as they "rattle" around in shipment.
