Sony Mavica FD-95 review
The image stabilization is one of the best features. Going on a trip and leaving the tripod at home is a very good idea. The right handed shoot and zoom controls are in the right place. The 10 times optical zoom is another strong selling point but a close up ability that goes down to the dust on a protective lens is something to see. On the picture side, it's a lot of bad news:
Take a piece of white paper and set your white balance on it. Now crumple it up, straighten it out again, to get slight differences in shadows. Focus on and shoot through the paper at a light source. I get green and magenta coloration in what should be shadows and highlights. Take a picture of something with a bit of contrast. I get edge highlighting instead of light and dark areas. In a normally smooth area of a photo, I see pixel groupings in squares. Maybe that's due to the jpeg compression, maybe not. I'm waiting to spend a pile on another camera with the better features of this Sony.
