Fujifilm FinePix 2800 Zoom review
Feb 15, 2005

A cheeky little plastic camera which may not have enough buttons or menu options let alone manual features but takes tack sharp images from end to end with excellent colour and contrast, it may be a bit on the noisy side, but isn't smothered in detail killing noise reduction like the Canon S1-IS and wouldn't know how to Purple fringe if you paid it (the Wonderful Oly UZI as well as the Fuji 602, 7000 etc Fringe bad of pushed) .

Fast at writing files (Way faster than the 2400Z) and Zero lag after AF, the ageing 2800Z battles on throwing out 7X5s in plentitude - it doesn't actually need AV mode as the lens is tack sharp wide open at all focal lengths and due to the size of the Chip, the Depth of field is deep enough for almost every scene.. the EVF is fine (though could do with Diopter adjustment) though the LCD is as poor as they come being grainy and lacking contrast, in fact is it even a TFT? - the zoom "lever" is awful to use (fiddly) but the zoom is 2 stage speed wise and fast with it, there is little startup time. It's even frugal on card space with out sacrificing quality and excellent on batteries!.

All in all, for what you can pick these up for, the thing takes good enough pics for even 8X10s let alone 6X4s and shames most budget 3Mp efforts, even from Fuji (3000 / 5000), Canon (SD200 / A400 / S1-IS) and Nikon (885, 3100) . the biggest downer is that it looks too much like a miniature EOS 300D Digital Rebel - LOL ..

Ratings are in comparison to other 2Mp and some 3Mp cameras

Problems:

Only using the LCD in anything but dull light, the typical Fuji file No reset issue and missing the zoom lever all the time - no faults
