Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1 review
I'm a Leica M user. But my Leica stuff had put on self
since digital era. Now I do have the Panasonic LC1 and
Digilux 1 & 2 means how much I missed my film Leica.
The Panasonic L1 is the only Digital camera that can
100% bought me back in to Leica M memories without
burning my wallet into films and film developing. But
for the price tag of this camera is high enough to scare
away many DSLR users. But since I hooked with Leica
and get used to the Leica price tag, this camera is
worth every single penny for that aperture rings and
shutter speed dial which comes with the 14-50mm
Leica lens. If you buying a Leica M lens in that range
with F2.8, It may be double the price of the L1
If you are a Leica fans, you may find easy to control
the camera in term of the funtions layout. and the
Mega OIS Leica lens is very effective to get the shot
sharp at most time. The image quality, color, tone &
saturation is great and pretty my Canon 40D and the
Lens is as great as my Canon L lens, but Panasonic and
Leica does more in Saturation and smoother in
The bounce flash is a great design of it. instead of
carry a external flash to do a simple bounce, the L1
build in bounce flash make it even more simple.
There is no white balance fine tunes as nowadays
DSLR. But with the newer firmware updates it does
added customize white balance which is useful.
if you think the Leica M is in the size "M" the L1 must
in "XXL" size. I have a camera bay that fits my Canon
40D and Pentax K20D perfectly but not fits the L1
due to its Boxy body. So this is a huge heavily camera
and not as light as Leica.
If you like the silk like shutter sound that Leica M, you
will disappointed by the L1 shutter & mirror noise, it is
much louder than my other DSLRs.
The Live view freeze the last image to focus than flip
the mirror double time to click a shot which kills time
to capture and kills mood from noise
