Pentax Optio W30 review
My Optio 30 failed too and so did pentax repair department.
The camera had many problems, some intermittently, behaving like it was in night shot when it wasn't (images even detecting night shot setting, although it was not), taking 12 seconds or more to focus in good lighting conditions, grainy images, inability to focus underwater except the first time. I returned it at my expense twice, after extensive attempts to get any response via email, and it was returned with condescending remarks from the repair centre. The movie mode stopped working, and finally on a recent under water shooting (all of one foot under water) it died entirely, and it did have water in it. Pentax offered me half price of retail on a new one, after much persistence on my part. It is over warranty by a few months, but the attempts to have this camera repaired or replaced started within a month of purchase. Not even worth taking up a half price offer, I decided, if it means I might have to deal with the Repair Centre again.
