Possibly my favorite prime lens

The DA 15mm Limited is one of currently five DA "Limited" series lenses - small, all-metal, extremely sharp and contrasty lenses from Pentax. All the DA Limiteds are designed specifically for APS-C, but several can be used on film/FF with minimal or no light falloff.

The DA 15ltd is simply one of the best lenses I've ever used - it's small size, nice contrast and sharpness, superb flare control and great build quality make me want to take it everywhere - which results in a lot of fun and opportune photography.

Here are some shots taken with the lens and associated discussion:

.

Problems:

Field curvature combined with so-so corners wide open. Note that this is really only a problem at f/4, but in the real-world shooting situations I find myself in, my f/4 shots are usually indoors and with subjects that do not depend on corner sharpness. At f/8, everything sharpens up nicely.

The center is very, very sharp even wide-open.

I'm not sure why nobody spotted this thread, but your compositions with the 15 limited combined with the subtle sepia toning you often use have been very inspiring! I remember pictures of your kids with cardboard boxes, swings, tricycles, cornfields and halloween fests to name a few... Keep them coming!

Thanks Miles, Citron, aussiegal.

This is probably the lens that's most caused me to get up and get out of the house andjust shoot.

These photos, and your other work are truly excellent. I think you can take credit/responsibility(?) for the sale of many 15mm lenses. Pentax owes you thanks, but photographers spouses, on the other hand ----

The trick to equipment procurement is to use your equipment to take photos of things your spouse likes to see - whether it be something like:

You are doing wonders with this lems. Obviously it fits your style (or eye). Personally I haven't yet got to utilizing wide angle lenses well.
