Eric (viking) has recently ran a testmand posted the results on this forum,  it seems that there may be an upper limit beyond which returns dimimish exponentially.

I recently switched from a PNY Class 10 card to a Sony UHS-1 card (rated for 45 MB/s writes) in my NX100, and a noticed a difference right away. With the PNY card, there was often a long buffer lag after a shot, during which some of the control menus became inaccessible: the display was on, but I couldn't change ISO, WB, etc. After a series of shots, the delay could become quite long and noticeable. But with the UHS-1 card the delay is much shorter, which makes the camera more usable (it's easier to try the same shot again with different settings). I always shoot RAW, which of course means the writes take longer.

El-cheapo Kingston 8 GB Class 4 SD cards. My beard grows a whole centimeter while I wait for my EX1 to finish writing a RAW+JPEG frame, but what can I say? I shot for so long with manual film cameras I'm pretty used to this whole "seconds per frame" thing. And they're cheap. Did I mention cheap? yeah.

Another test of SD cards.

Interesting. Transcend looks best overall, but worst with 32 MB files (the size of the RAW files).  The Sandisk and Lexar look noticeably better there.

Looks like I might need to get a different benchmarking program, might explain some of the discrepancies I saw between benchmark speed and camera performance if I care to do more of tests, which I don't really care to do

Hi!

We use a Sandisk Ultra 32gb class 10 and a Lexar 32gb class 10 SD cards in our WB750 and EX1.

Santa being sympathetic of slow write times.

The class 10s seems faster than what we had before (class 6 cards). How much faster I couldn't tell you.

Thanks

I would advise to use a 16GB instead of 32gb. for some reason, the 16gb have much faster write times. also, the Ultras are quite mediocre compared to the Pro series and UHS-1.

SanDisk "Ultra" 16Gb, Class 10, SDHCI.

Claims 30MB/s

Presently using this card in an NX-11, however I'm guessing its probably wasted (ie. overkill).

I have tried several different types of cards at varying speed ratings. For my nx200 I think from past experience timing tests and talking with others on this forum its would seem my Patriot 32GB class 10 suffice its maximum capabilities to write to the card. I tried a sony or samsung UHS-1 but the card didnt play well with my camera. Took it back and got a patriot 32GB class 10. I tried a sandisk extreme 16GB, no change in write times to the card. Took it back and got a patriot 32GB class 10 (I have like 7 of them now!)

Updating to the latest firmware was prolly the biggest benefit in write times ( I was a stick in the mud keeping fw v1.02)

The only benefit of my camera working well with a faster (write) card would be the files will offload from my card reader to computer much quicker. ah well...as the late Doris Day would say que sera, sera.
