The Boulangerie...a Hopper-esque photo with E-M5

As a long time admirer of Edward Hopper's paintings, I've wanted to compose a photo in the style of his most iconic work, Nighthawks. I produced this photo in Paris yesterday. I hope you like it.

I love this type of image, lonely and romantic at the same time!

Thanks

Well taken, the picture is very good, and I like the mood. The bread there must be delicious.

Lovely image. I had not heard of Edward Hopper earlier. The pic is a very nice homage to the Nighthawks painting.

So thanks for sharing the image and the introduction to Hopper!

I just looked it up.

Hopper's painting is about four figures in a Cafe.

Yours is about some chairs outside.

Do it again.

Thank you for your kind remarks. My all-time favorite of Hopper's is "Gas". It reminds me of a service station where my late uncle used to work many years ago.

I'm delighted to have introduced you to him. Though he lived until 1967, his style reminds me of the darker side of the 1920's. As I mentioned in a previous post, my favorite of his is "Gas".

Thanks for looking,

Jim

I like it, and can almost smell the bread baking. Crud, now I'm hungry.

(Am curious whether you bracketed and if so, how the alternative exposures might have looked.)

Cheers,

Rick

Thanks Steve, I'm glad you liked it. Actually, I had the idea some time ago..a boulangerie was a must... the first problem at hand was getting to Paris:-| The rest of the story (too long to tell here) was fraught with one stumbling block after another but I stuck to the plan and I was pleased that it turned out well.

Thanks again,

Jim
