From yesterday
In reply to steelhead3, 3 months ago

I was at my usual birding spot and saw a great blue heron flying by, so I followed him and captured his hunting sequel. Shot with my Canon 7D and Sigma 120-300 + 1.4x TC (rarely used these days).

Flying over

Landed and start searching his prey

He caught a mice

Mice tried to hang on to a straw and refuse to die

No problem - GBH simply drown the mice and wash it off at the same time

Now the job is done

Enjoy the meal!

Walk away from his hunting ground

Flying away again

To another place

Nice set Ed. I was always wondering why it was called a red bellied woodpecker and not a red headed now I see. Lol

Nicely captured images of the feeding habits of a very graceful bird. On a side note poor mouse.

What I got today.

I dont know the english names, so I give the german names.
I know, these are not too great, but I keep trying and I believe it will improve.

All are heavily postprocessed and cropped.

Roter Milan

Roter Milan

Roter Milan

Wacholderdrossel

Weather and light are slowly improving, so I hope, the images will improve also.
BTW, the white spots that you see, are snowflakes.
