Just Released...Canon EOS 7D Mark II Spec List

....from Canon Rumors

We received our first spec list for a Canon EOS 7D Mark II (we’re calling it that for now) from a known source in a while this weekend. Most people are now saying that this camera is probably being announced at the end of summer, with availability almost right away like the EOS 5D Mark III.

It was also mentioned that their could be as many as 3 prototype configurations of the camera out there, and this one of them.

Specifications

  • 24.1mp APS-C Sensor
  • Dual DIGIC V
  • 10fps
  • Dual Memory Card Slots (Unknown configuration)
  • 61 AF Points (I wonder if we’ll get red focus points in AIS?)
  • 3.2″ LCD
  • Build quality like 5D3
  • GPS & Wifi
  • $2199 ($500 more than the 7D at launch, I’d like to see such a camera come in under $2000)
  • ISO Performance to get close to the 5D3
  • “Lots of video features”

If true.... I wish it was a tad cheaper, under $1700.00

mini Mark 1, nice

If true, that sounds wonderful.  24mp + 10fps = mini-Mark 1 for less.  I can see sports photographer use 7dmk2 exclusively.  24mp buys a lot of crop room, and I tend to crop shooting sports.

I wonder what a lesser Canon 70d will look like.

Price is not an objection if the specs hold up.

Exactly!  I think either the specs or the price is going to give...

Look at the spec list again!  Considering the wi-fi grip alone retails for about $700, the rumored price doesn't seem unreasonable.  On top of that, it could have wi-fi, dual card slots, 10fps, 5D-like ISO performance.  I'm doubting that the specs are all true for that price, to be honest.

Dual Cards... probably means SD. Which is fine by me.

And GPS and Wifi... nice too.

But most of all, I want the best AF possible (without buying a 1DX).

Re: Just Released...Canon EOS 7D Mark II Spec List

Looks good to me. I would have preferred fewer MP and higher IQ but as long as it provides better sharpness and lower noise that the 7D I can live with that. The rest is more or less taken from my wish-list and I will pick one up in no time (hoping that I won't have to return it because it doesn't deliver - I still haven't quite forgotten that I had to return 4 7D's before I got my hands on one that I held on to and "love").

It doesn't say anything about metering. I want 1D X metering and color tracking AF. Please

Also I want a release date earlier - within a month or two.

Yep, they could sell a ton more if released before rather than after summer.

Please note that this is not an actual spec list of the 7DMk2. It is a rumor, their has been many rumors. somewhere in the article it also mention that "the man who saw the man who saw the bear" mentioned that:

It was also mentioned that their could be as many as 3 prototype configurations of the camera out there, and this is one of them.

Now IF this is true and the AF is the AF from the 5DMk3/1Dx, I would be one of the first in line to buy one.

Re: Just Released...Canon EOS 7D Mark II Spec List

With thoes specs I better start saving up for it cause I don't think I would pass that up. Of course I'd rather see it cheaper but if thoes killer specs hold up we may be lucky to get it for that. Sounds like a lot of camera to me. I just hope Canon can keep the same size camera at least and maybe a little smaller.

I'd also rather get a camera that's been tested to the max and the bugs worked out before shipping, even if it means getting it later in the year.

You'd have to elbow me out of the way .. looks like the perfect camera

"ISO Performance to get close to the 5D3" - now that would be something for a 1.6 crop!

Very nice and if it could have the size of the 60D, it would be the perfect dream camera....

Alternatively, if they could release an additional camera with features and control layout as the current 7D, but shrink it to the size of the 60D and keep the price of the current 7D...

Price is no problem for me with those specs. However, if they can not fit wi-fi into 7D size without grip, I do not want wi-fi.

Re: Just Released...Canon EOS 7D Mark II Spec List

I really hope this is true (or close to it). If it uses SD cards it would be fine with me. ISO performance close to the 5DIII would be amazing. I would be happy to pay that price for a camera with this spec.

If it were 2/3 as good as the specs

Finally, a Cr2 source.  Late summer eh?  I've waited this long so what's another 6 months or so.  I forget, was it mentioned as a 1.6x crop?  24mp if it turns out to be true....hope thy have some really improved sensor tech to deal with the noise factor.  When it comes out, I'll probably be an early adopter.  My 40D wil be 5 years old by then.

Re: Just Released...updated specs..well...maybe.

Well it does seem a bit too much...or a bit low on price.  And crop slrs have a tough time getting within one stop of FF.

So...a few adjustments that may happen along  the way to the shelf:

Price...about right.

fps...maybe less...they have to leave 10-12 fps to the mirrorless...it's easier there.

Iso...native 12800 should be doable...for 22-2300 bucks. 50K iso as a small screen post..maybe yes.

Same AF as the top 5K  $ body ?  unlikely...but more likely the AF from the 5D3...that could be, and I'd bite without hesitation.  And most of you guys too.

I'm still good with such.  You too, right ?
