WTF? Are you serious or are you just pulling our leg. If serious: So what magic signature did you find?

Panasonic users, unlike blah-blah-blah Olympus users, will never stop to find out the truth, whatever it is...

No problem with me. I am only glad to see you take on the job (and the expense?) on behalf of the rest of us.

Damn straight. That sounds like a good night to me. Could I melt the dark chocolate and dip the popcorn in it? Salty-sweet, washed down with the vino...hmmm...

well getting to this point was easy (as I was not planning to assembly EPM2 back)... now I will try to get some macro shots to see if anything is visible w/o further disassembly... unfortunately the back side of the sensor is glued to a metal bracket... I do not have experience w/ such work - so if macroshots produce nothing I will be facing a dilemma - use a heat gun (???) use some solvent (???) or try to call a service like e-calab.com and see if they can get the die markings for me ( seems to be not expensive services = http://e-calab.com/pricing.html )

I'd call the lab. Either they can do it for you or they can tell you how to do it. Would be a pity if if you/we wouldn't get to the core of it now that you/we are this close.

If you do it at home, a hot air gun on the back of the circuit board until the solder melts on the ball grid array. This is destructive by the way.

Looks like you might want to use something resembling the products that the profitable part of Olympus is famous for. No unglueing or unsoldering required. Got any hospital nearby?

New Nikon D5200 sensor

Toshiba 5105 (HEZ1):   The Toshiba 5105 was found in the Nikon D5200. This CMOS image sensor is the first design win noted for a sensor of this size by Toshiba in a Nikon camera.  The APS-C device features 24.1 Mp resolution and copper metallization.

Great Toshiba makes Nikon Senors now replacing Sony.  But does anyone think there is no Sony technology going in to that sensor?   My bet is Sony is licensing out various patents, so that anyone can make them and save Sony the large captial expenses.

Heck, we may find that Kodak, Polaroid, Magnavox, or Sylvania has their name on the sensors!

This is so much more fun when it's not my camera being disassembled...

Agree, I just hope they respect the body,  don't desecrate the sensor and donor the rest of the organs
