Hi Raaj,
Nice to see you posting some pictures again, we missed you over the last few weeks.
I dislike yellow, but your I like your photo because it creates some interesting reactions inside me.
One is the curiosity of what is behind the door and the willingness to peak through the window.
The second is the appreciation of the geometrical structures in it and their placement in the frame.
The third and strongest is an emotional response due to my past experiences "serving" my country and spending time in government buildings that looked like this (but less colourful). I am not sure your intention was to create such feelings, but there you go.
A multidimensional response from one of the viewers of your picture. Let's see what the others think.

This is a great image, Raaj. I love the way the colors come together and framing it in black really completes the view. It is in an odd way aesthetically pleasing and nicely composed, particularly with the fan included in the image. These are the kind of shots that make for wonderful images but most people would never recognize. Nice work.

I can't believe you truncated the salt and pepper shaker duo in what is obviously the canteen of the mental asylum (I recognized the floor from my last internment), with nary a thought for their feelings - heartless you are! Clearly the place was undergoing an energy crisis when the ceiling fan is not spinning in what must have been 36 degrees in the shade (even the door has been burnt yellow). I can still hear the screams ...................................
Other than that, a provoking triumvirate of geometry from an evil mind.

Raaj, a well-spotted and captured scene!
And since you have a brilliant critic in David, I think Pulitzer is as good as yours!! You just need more asylum pictures for a series. Any one of us will probably make a good inmate, especially after a coffee!

:: Some analysis! ::

Hi Raaj,
We haven’t seen you posting any shot for a long time and I was wondering what had happened to you! Now that I see this fantastic shot, I realize you have been reading books and going to museums. But I have a strong feeling that you missed your Russian language classes.
This shot is a real masterpiece. I have never seen a yellow door and a ceiling fan in the same shot with a blue horizontal line between the wall and the floor. As you know, I am not an intellectual or a qualifies artist to analyze or interpret any masterpiece and I am sure our good friend Jeff can do that much better by finding many points in this shot that would relay to Sartre philosophy, to Miro composition or even to Mozart symphonies! I am sure there are many meanings in that table on the right with black legs paralleled with the door; and, that black dog behind the door that I, a simple person, is unable to fully understand!.... Jeff; please; HELP!
As for myself, I can only see something of the “Templers” in this shot! First, if we prolog the horizontal of the door with the vertical, not only we can see a cross but the letter “H” that is for Helvetia, the other name of Switzerland where the Templers settled centuries ago!
But as a simple man, I am more interested in the lines and geometrical shapes - like triangles, for instance – of this shot. Actually, I must admit that reading some of the praises and critics in some other previous threads opened my eyes and now, every time I look at a picture, all I see are lines and triangles! I feel I was blind till now and I thank everyone to finally open my eyes!
But then, when I combine all together; Eureka! … This must certainly be a message! A message from a language unknown on Earth!... An Alien message!... That reminds me that you are a scientist!
Yes, my dear friend; you created a piece of “Philosophical art” and a new sort of “communication” that has been unknown to us, mortals, till now!....
Congratulations, dear Raaj! Who says we don’t learn anything in DPR!!!?...

Thank you for your "multidimensional" comments!, dear Kostas.
Like Roel said on another post, most of us that leave for a time do find our way back eventually. This was shot at one of the many hotels that line the highways between New Delhi and Jaipur around the half-way mark. They all cater to tourists making the journey between those two cities. The yellow and it's transition down to the blue and grey caught my eye, along with the geometry.
Appreciate your comments and glad you liked the image.
Cheers,
-raaj

Thank you for your very kind words, George. I struggle with finding interesting things to shoot and have been attempting to get the mind-chatter out of the way of the eye. Every once in a while this sort of thing happens!

Dear David,
First of all you DON'T need more coffee!
Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if the conditions behind that door were totally Peter Cushing in "Asylum"! Believe it or not, this time the ambient was around 6deg C., but no doubt the blistering on the door comes from the previous summer and it's 48 deg C temperatures.
Mea culpa on the evil mind. I had originally planned to post this version:

because as the cognoscenti, you and I both know that all great art must be underexposed. But I decided not to as the abuse in Russian probably caused the abuser to experience high blood pressure and provoking that would be rather uncharitable.
Trust you are well, my dear fellow. Looking forward to your images from Iceland. Stay warm!
Cheers,
-raaj

Previous comments about "triangles" seems to have touched a nerve.
Why do you have a problem with that?

No - not at all.
I find it funny that you have mentioned people seeing "triangles" in images in a couple of posts.
You never usually mention that in your C&C - only when you are having a sly dig at someone else.

Louis,
without wanting to hijack Raaj's thread, I stayed clear of that thread of yours remembering all to well to uproar it caused back then.
And of course I do realise you're pulling poor Raaj and us more than one leg ...

Dear Raaj,
what a lovely yellow door, I wonder what is behind that door !
Interesting composition, however it's setup reminds me too much of a certain forum member.
You're not mimicking him, aren't you ?
All the very best.
