Epson Stylus Pr0 4800 message
Jan 26, 2013

My printer has just been playing up, which it rarely does. I have not been printing for most of January and now i have just started again it kept refusing to accept my 300 gsm paper and stating Paper Jam. By coaxing it through i got it to work, but then out of the blue i got a message saying a Service Required. I managed to get rid of this by switching the printer off and cancelling my print run and restarting. But this is all a bit worrying as next week i start to print again in earnest for our business.

Can anyone throw any light on what is going on. Is the service message and automatic one that has counted how many prints i have done, or is it generated because of a problem etc?

I would be grateful for any help or suggestions.

Jules

What was the.code that went along with the message? Without that code it is impossible to know what the.issue is.

I've had a generic service code on a couple of my printers while a jam or other problem occured. There was no code. Just the text. Upon shutting down, deleting the job and restarting, the problem message would go away. The OP may have to check to see if the feed rollers need cleaning. Or use another feed path for that heavy paper.

I don't think there was a code, it was probably just as jtoolman said of his experience.
