Bag for 7d with Battery grip
Jan 25, 2013

Hi guys can anyone suggest a bag preferably a messenger bag or satchel where I can fit my 7d w/grip, 1 lens, flash, and still have space for a tablet, budget would be around 100 USD.

or what I am thinking is I will just purchase a bag insert and convert the one I am using right now.

It's been almost a year and I stopped shooting, what I want right now is a bag where I can bring my camera along with me anywhere I go.

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat.  My Tamrac 5725 works great for my laptop, iPad mini, 20D w/lens, extra lens and has a little room left over.  What it does not do is comfortably fit the 20D with the battery grip on it.

I just recieved a Think Tank-Speed Freak.

It will accept my 7D with a grip with a 17-55 2.8 mounted and the 70-200 2.8 detatched and a flash and still more.  I'm sure I could get my 10-22 2.8 detached in there as well.  It big enough for all that but not so big it's a hassel to carry.  I would not want any larger bag size though.  It's all I would want to carry on my side as a sholder bag.

The 70-200 2.8 is too long when attached to the body.  Can't zip it up.

Thanks, now if only Lowepro is releasing the backpack version of messenger pro, I'd buy it in no time. Absolutely well made bags.

Think Tank, Lowe Pro, Tamrac, Gura Gear, Crumpler and Domke all make good messenger style bags which should fit your camera system.  If you have a camera store nearby, it is best to check them out and buy one there.  If not, read all the specs on line and get one from a place with a liberal return policy.  Camera bags, in my opinion, are harder to shop for than almost any other camera accessory. One size does not fit all.  I like ThinkTank because they are not as heavily padded as Tamrac, so not quite as bulky, but the ThinkTank bags do tend to be somewhat shapeless as a result.

Get the 200AW version, it will fits your whole gear + tablet. It costs more, but it will last forever.

With the 200AW it's not a matter of cost, but, of size. The 180 is tall enough, without being excessively wide.

I think I'll go with the lowerpro, you are correct but the catch is I am here in UAE and the prices of bags are more expensive against amazon even with the freight charge locally around 11 usd, still the price is cheaper.

For me it's the perfect size, i get to carry my gear plus some other random stuff lol. If it's possible, see it for yourself at the store. 200AW fits a 13.3" macbook pro just nicely, so i'd say it's not as big as the picture. Picture it like any messenger bag that you've seen. Have to warn you though, since it's canvas, there's weight to it.

I've just purchased the 200AW and it is brilliant, the extra width allows easy quick access to your camera equipment and it also allows my iPad to be fitted into the front pocket.
