Last week it was pretty awful here for shooting - rain and heavy overcast. I shot these out back of birds waiting their turn at our feeders using a tripod, the A-77 and Big Beercan. I liked the even lighting which helped a lot shooting at high ISO.

Golden Eagle

Went for a raptor drive in Central Oregon; we saw lots of Rough Leg, Ferruginous, and various forms of Red Tail. The trick was to practice ID. There were also lots of Bald and golden Eagles. These critters were very camera shy (obviously being hunted) and we got very few pictures.

Nice sharp sots Ed, tripods really make a difference, too bad they are such a pain.

Nice one of the eagle. I've only seen an eagle around here a couple of times in the last five years, so you won't be seeing any from me

Love that white-throated sparrow. I have a buddy who obsesses about finding these here in the desert. He actually found one last year.

Purple gallinule
Blue-grey gnatcatcher
A rare bird for my area - two of these are double-crested cormorants, but the one yelling on the left with the white behind his bill is a neotropical cormorant...not a regular visitor!
Double-crested cormorant coming in for a water landing
Pied-billed grebe - cute little guys, aren't they?
Blue-winged teals
Great egret flying by in lovely light
Blue headed vireo
Northern rough-winged swallow
Little blue heron flying in
Flock of grackles in the sun

It's always a treat to see your weekly catch. The flying swallow is very difficult to capture. You did a nice job.

A few shot with A99 and Sony 300/2.8

Last week one of my bidding friend was testing the old version of Sony 300/2.8 G (he works at camera shop), so I took a few shots on my A99. The AF was very quick and it's not too heavy for handhold.
