>>>VOTING for C-200 The BOOK<<<<
|
Wow, what a great few weeks it has been. The deadline still seemed to have come rushing in, even with the extended time! I do hope you all are enjoying watching the pages to our book come to life thanks to the work of each of you, rounding these great shots up (no easy task eh?) and to Endika (& Montse) for masterfully doing the page layouts.
Thank you to Brent & Stefan too, for making this book idea actually become a reality. I can't wait to get my hands on the actual book!
Trond, don't forget you won 199 so you will be not only the first moderator for this year, but for our next 200 themes (who knows?). You'll be hosting challenge 201!
And here's the instructions for this special ocassion:
You have 16 points (votes) to give out among all the photos of one gallery, and there is only one gallery this go round. The other two galleries will remain as they are, with no voting necessary.
You must give one photo 4 points as your top pick for that gallery.
You may then give the remaining 12 points to the others within the gallery, distributed however you like, but no other photo can get 4 points.
If you run out of votes, you can award an Honourable Mention by clicking on the "H". Remember, the H's are free, so be generous!
Please, do not vote for your own pictures.
If you use the same login you can go back and change your votes up to closing. Be sure to save your votes each time, though.
Voting is from now until Wed Jan. 16 at 9 PM (GMT). At this point the scores will be calculated by the amazing voting machine brought to us by Warren Sarle, whom we can never thank enough.

Have a good look at each photo, remember, it will be on the cover of our book. Awesome!

Until Wednesday, enjoy the photos and happy voting!

Voting was pretty easy! Wish I'd participated before now, but the talent is so great I can't really compete. Good job, folks.

Not really a competition...

they're really challenges with two galleries, competition is for the right to run the next challenge. ha! Exhibition is to force you to dig into those archives of yours!
I tell you what, I was pretty green when I started doing this challenge thing. Wow, did I learn a lot. It's amazing how much you can learn from friends (which is all we are here, truth be told). Just looking at their shots, seeing what was getting the most votes and figuring out why, really helped my personal photography more than anything. The critiques are gentle, more like suggestions (which are almost always good ones if you give them a try).
I really do hope you'll join in with the challenges. Now, some love the idea of having a theme to think about while out doing our photography, and some don't. If you're looking for serious heavy handed critique (nothing wrong with that either) this might not be the place for you.
I do hope it is though,

I swear, that was so so hard to chose! I did have my favorie 1, then there were 5 shots that fought like cats and dogs to get a 2 pointer vote. I'm exhausted, just from voting!

I understand. We used to have them in the old OTF 'back in the day' until it was 'hijacked' so to speak.
Loved participating, as it really did make you go out & look at things a lot differently, but sure as heck hated running them! It was not an easy thing to do. I think I only won once or twice - can't remember (too traumatic, lol). I found myself entering my 'not-the-best' photo to avoid the inevitable.
The way they're run here seems quite a bit easier, and certainly has a wide base of support that is not being undermined by 2 or 3 people.
I'll definitely keep the challenges in mind when they start, so... thanks for the encouragement.

This was one of the more difficult ones to vote on. There were too many really good entries but in the end I decided to give a four to one of them and then four 2-pointers and four 0ne-pointers. I confess that I did make the decision not to give more than one 2-pointer to the same individual. Maybe this is not a very objective attitude but my personal preference would be that the that the cover images should be from 5 different entrants.

Should we limit one photo on front & back
In reply to MercurySoft1,

to one photo per photographer?, in other words, we should have six separate people, on the covers, one front, and five on the back, so that someone does not have more than one photo, I am not saying that is how things are going to turn out, but something to consider, thoughts?

If you can't make sense, go make nonsense. It's better than no sense at all.

Hmmmm.......something to ponder and I can see the merit of this suggestion.
But it is a competition with rules in place and now in the voting stage. Maybe a bit late to change now?

Appendix A ?
In reply to Goffen,

Trond and me discussed on work today the possibility for an appendix with all the winners.
A few pages on the end of the book (Or perhaps the inside covers?) with thumbnails of all the 200 winners.
Worth considering ?

Yeah, that would be cool to see all 200 winners at the end of the book, good idea
