Action self portrait with the A57

Needed a shot of someone training on a particular route for a photo competition relating to a race I am entering, fitting it in after work in the absence of a photographer/subject combination I took our my timer remote and did it by myself.  Rather happy with the result

And so you should be - I enjoyed the dust behind you and it looks like you are running on air.

Great job on that one!  Nice action, nice exposure, nice sharpness and nice processing.  You timed it perfectly and the dust works wonders.

You should not be rather happy.

You should be Very Happy!

Both feet from the ground, the dust behind you, the scenery. Great shot!

How many times did you have to run until you had this result?

That one could be a winner.

How did you work it out.... burst? number of steps past the tree? And did you know the dust might kick up perfectly like that?

I set the timer to wait about 8 seconds then use bulb for about 5-6 seconds (I mixed this up between a few runs), having the camera pre focused and on the 12 FPS setting it just went straight to burst mode after the delay (which gave me time to run to the corner and turn around)

In all between all my fiddling I took about 300-350 photos with probably about 10 or so passes by the camera, there were a few other good photos from the lot but this was my favourite.

I was rather aware after a bit of dabbling how I had to run to kick up the dust for the effect which I thought would work quite well.

The lens is my favourite at the moment, the 35mm 1.8.
