Interesting, though I don't understand why a 50mm (75mm equivalent) version would be labelled as the "all rounder" within Sigmas 3 camera choices?

Interesting indeed. I studied the leaked image and found the lens housing a little bit larger and the glass opening quite larger compared to the DP2M which makes me feel that its plausible. I'm not quite excited as the max aperture is pretty lacking for producing bokeh in portraits and the focal length quite limiting for plenty landscapes but I'm confident that the lens performance is even better than the DP2M's.

Here's hoping they've also improved the buffer and write speed.

The lens focusses down to 23 cm, and macro is 1:3

They have, it's called the SD1M, the problem is there lenses are mostly not good enough, and with no LV focusing can be a real bitch.

Just have to wait and see

I recall a comment a long time ago that Sigma's original intent was to produce three DP cameras. So perhaps now we finally have that trio.

Re: DP3 Merrill leaked

DP is solution for lack of wide lenses for SD. Now that we have the 35mm 1.4 working great on SD, DP with lens longer than that is less attractive.

A 24mm DP makes more sense to me.

To me the problem would be the lack of a viewfinder ... I don't want to buy a camera without a real VF ever again ...

Re: DP3 Merrill leaked

The range would ideally for me include four cameras

DP1M - An 18mm (27mm equiv), ever so slightly wider

DP2M - same

DP3M - 40mm (60mm equiv)

DP4M - ultrawide, maybe 14mm (21mm equiv)

Yes, 1:2.8 may also be a little slow, all things considered. Anyway, I am really willing to belive in this one to be true.

Today, you can circumventing the "Skin tone problem" with two things : Correct lighting and or some adjustments in apps (Photoshop or other). So at the end this is not really a problem.

For me, this DP is a damn great news, just magic. A very good start of 2013 !!

Noted, color is not the main problem. SPP has serious performance issues which are much more of a concern.

Indeed! After a miserable monday full of petty annoyances, this rumor made me smile.

They are lots of great lenses (Leica, Voigtlander, Canikon, Oly...........), but Sigma have to use universal M43 mount:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/hannes_frick/5706330874/

etc...

They have probably problem with that... Marketing problem... With such a beauties I wouldn´t mind manual focusing and manual aperture at all !!!
