Yeah, and within minutes we can expect to see the first threads appearing about failing RAW converter support for the X20 and X100s. We can only hope that a solution from the major sofware suppliers will be announced soon. After all, this makes four Fuji camera with a X-Trans sensor, the layout of which is giving millions of people around the world severe headaches ...

Unfortunately, it's most likely the exact same 4 x f=7.1 - 28.4 mm lens. I wish it was wider, even at the cost of losing a bit at the long end. At least the finder has now a display overlay.

I agree. A 24-90mm would have been nice. I quess with this size of sensor 28mm is the minimum they can make without making the lens and camera significantly bigger. The perfect camera will never be made but the X20 looks ok on a lot of important aspects.

"Following in the footsteps of the highly acclaimed X10, the FUJIFILM X20 inherits its high-precision lens".

The other mandatory half of that move would be adequate RAW support and POP! goes the money.

I've been waiting for this camera for years. A compact with manual settings, very good image quality, a fast manual zoom, and a VF displaying shooting info.
Wow!
Nothing about battery life in Fuji announcement. That means the battery will be the same as the one in the X10. Do you think using only the OVF (with the digital trans panel) will drain less battery than using the LCD? And maybe the new sensor drains less battery than the previous one?
What do you think?
I hope so. If that's the case, count me in.
Let's wait for the price, though...

Proper resolution and natural lookiing images back at last ...
the best and biggest announcement from fuji would be if they`d stated that they`d also be introducing Quality Control to the assembly lines so hopefullly more than 10% of their output may actually be of merchantable quality .

Andrė, I really don't understand the ongoing fuss about battery life. These thingies are 4€ each fer christs sake. And yes, most probably the digi-panel will draw way less energy than the LCD. Regarding the price I wouldn't be surprised if it settles slightly below that of the RX-100

After the debacle with the current sensor and QC issues that have cost Fuji in so many ways, that the 20 would NOT have any form of the current sensor was for me, a foregone conclusion, even if Fuji had to buy them from an OEM. I would similarly suspect that if heads did not roll with this trainwreck, there must be lots of people on VERY short leashes who are sitting on very hot seats.
Time will tell. I truly hope Fuji has not adopted the Tech Age model of 'rush the development, sell them while the iron's hot, and fix them later'. That the 20 is an evolution of the X10 would lead me to hope that's not the case. NO ONE is going to go through this twice. I'm a Fuji fan, but not a FanBoy who'll put up with anything.

The 2/3" sensor was a completely disaster and in retrospect, there was no way the X10 could continue with such an utterly tainted component. I have the updated sensor in my XF1 and it still blooms at the drop of a hat. It does not ORB like my X10 does, but the highlight capabilities are just terrible compared to my F70 or ancient F20.

While I love the idea of this new X20, there is NO WAY in hell I will be an earlier adopter. Fujifilm's track record with new sensors is now tarnished and I will wait until there is conclusive proof that FUJIFILM has not muffed it again.

This is good news, I may be able to return to fuji cameras yet, but not too hastily, they have a lot of harm to recover from.

Understood. The 2/3rd inch sensor has done enormous damage to FUJIFILM. Not even droopage was as bad as what this sensor inflicted on customers. Unfortunately, X-S1 customers get both the sensor and droopage.

Ok I'll bite. What is so bad about EXR?
I recently got a Finepix HS 30, so I hope that doesn't mean my camera is "bad".

There's nothing wrong with EXR cameras, they're just to complicated for Ratty.

Of course it is, I doubt even Fuji know their garbage to good ratio - or even care, it`s the one thing which makes me apprehensive about buying their kit .
