OMD+ One job = 30 celebrity portraits and 3 magazine covers

|
Started this job back in July and finished it Oct 31st. This was a lot of shooting and a lot of work but it was a breeze compared to jobs like this I used to shoot with my DSLR.
If you follow my instagram I have loads of BTS shots but if not I'll be talking about how I made these shots on my blog.
I shot the OMD exclusively for this with the 45 1.8, 12 2.0 and 12-50 as my main lenses of choice. When I did need to shoot with a flash I used two FL600rs wirelessly.
How much post did I put into these shots? Less then 90minutes total
I've been holding off on talking about this project but I think now is a good time since any M43 hater can see what is possible with a small camera.
Everyone loved the shooting process - fast, fun and simple. Most shoots were done in 30 minutes.
I have a selection of shots on my site Portfolio Site Giulio Sciorio if you want to see them larger.

Really good selection of pics, a variety of styles and subject matter... But I really liked the one with the woman and all the colourful items around her.
Let me know when you get around to the blog posts
Thanks

And what a great job you did with it! Congratulations!
Of all the celebs - most of whom I don't know - Carl Hiassen grabbed my attention. I think I've read most everything he's written - wild and crazy characters, zany plots, an environmental twist, and thoroughly enjoyable.
Wife and I spent about six weeks on our boat in the Coconut Grove Marina twelve or so years ago and really got to love the city and its Art Deco heritage, with a large serving of Cubano culture delightfully mixed in. It's a young person's paradise, it seems, but even at two to three times the average age, it was great!

But, but it can't be done with such a small sensor. It isn't expensive or heavy enough!

Very nice work- interesting and nicely composed scenes with appealing backgrounds, technically great as well with good lighting and exposure.
I like them both as the more intimate thumbnails you see first, then again as the larger environmental portraits. Two for the price of one, and they're both great!

Congratulations on a great assignment and excellent work. I live in Miami so I probably know more of the personalities than most. Cool beans.

Giulio, Thanks for the links to your pictures. Really enjoyed seeing what a m43 camera can produce in the right hands.
Look forward to hearing more of your experience with the Panny G5, especially if you eventually use it on future projects like this.

The next time someone says they can't find any Pro quality photos made with the EM5 I'm going to direct them to your site. Thank you for sharing. More please!

Ability of any camera system to take good picture is not a sufficient reason for anyone to stop "hating" it.

OMG you have on your lens list the 12-50? Seriously, I have this lens and think it's great and it is good to see a real photographer using one. Love your work.

Superbly done, everyone of them, if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the man in the swamp glider. I feel like I'm there...
Great work Giulio!
Now I HAVE to buy that 12mm.... Oh well....!

Thanks a bunch! That shot of Captain Jesse was shot with the 12-50 kit and two FL600rs. Because there was no space on the fan boat for me to move around properly I used the zoom and held the OMD at waist level standing up so I can make sure that the two flashes were talking to each other (shot wirelessly). What you see is how I captured it in camera. I did erase a fly away hair and a boat light that was to the right of his head.
This was a shot where it would not have happened with a DSLR. I was on the edge of the boat so any further back and I'd be in the swamp with god knows what in the water!

Are you talking about the one on my site? I used Final Cut Pro 7 but I've since switched to FCP X while all my film friends went over to Premiere Pro.
FYI that video on my home page was shot in 2009 with my old 5DMKII and pocket camera for the still sequences. Color correction was done in Photoshop CS5 using Alien Skin Exposure to get various film looks.

Haha yup I sure did. It's not the sharpest lens but its sharp enough for work and if I'm in the rain its the only lens I have that's weather sealed. The sharpest lens I have is the 45 Olympus, shoot it at F/4 and its a totally different lens.

Well that's what my cat told me and I believe my cat when he talks to me.
