M43 Onion News!
The 17/1.8 has arrived! Finally a high quality 35mm equivalent with AF from Mt. Olympus. Faster, sharper, and snap focus MF are in. Squeaky, slow, and cheap is out. But what will happen to the poor old 17/2.8? Like Hostess Ding Dongs and Twinkies, the little pancake lens will be relegated to old school junk food status. Sure it's small, cheap, and can be yummy when you've been in the mountains for days or are a college student, but people have moved on to more pixellicious treats.
Hostess, makers of Twinkies, is going out of business

Lovely! Dusk is my favorite time to make landscapes. You've done a mavelous job of framing the scene and capturing the soft light.

I'm evaluating a new (for me) RAW processor called Photo Ninja. So far it has proven to be very interesting. Processed this image last night using Photo Ninja with some small touches in PS.
The image from my gallery does not really do justice to the final image due to the issues that have been recently discussed in the forum. The finished print ready images in 10x8 and 20x16 really show the capabilities of Photo Ninja. It is not free but might be worth a look for those evaluating alternatives to usual RAW converters.

Beautiful. Could look at it for ages, if I didn't feel the cold creeping in ... .
Great capture of colors and atmosphere. - Peter.

Awesome colors, especially in the second! Print it large!

Bird poop on the water
Yes, it's possible to make crap look interesting:
Rainstorm at night:

3-shot stitch of the same scene

Handheld, with a bit of off-camera flash:

Knife skills
two off-camera flashes, both bounced

The colors reminded me a bit of a Turner painting.

I like the colors of both but the first really has a mood going for it.

Not a fan of the second, which IMO is out of your comfort zone so good on you for that. At first I thought I was seeing moire but then recognized that it was Legos! But that's not the issue for me, I just don't like the composition or where this shot is going. It doesn't seem to have a point. IMHO. Also the skin tones are decidely purple, even though the WB in the upper part of the picture seems okay. Did the scene use mixed lighting sources and temperatures?
I like the Ice Cream Cone the best. Fantastic colors, fun composition and subject.

Very nice tones in this. Presumably related to Noise Ninja?

Macro and Windows 8

Just the insignia on my (cheap) watch band clasp. This was with my Minolta MD 50mm f3.5 macro with fotodiox adapter. For some reason I never achieved a version of this I liked with my new Oly 60mm f2.8 macro. (An oddly unwieldy little bugger.)

Oly OM-D E-M5 with Minolta MD 50mm f3.5 macro at 1/50th at ISO 6400.
(Trying to make an inserted image link to the big version. The link is here ...

... if that didn't work.)
Not much of an image but I like the new Windows 8 touchscreen ultra books for playing media in my living room. (I'm learning to like Windows 8 when I can use metro or the desktop. Not so thrilled with it when I have to switch between the two.)

Oly OM-D E-M5 with Oly 45mm f1.8 at f1.8 at 1/100 at ISO 1600.

Edit: That didn't work. Bastards. Is there any way to link the embedded photo to an external site?
