The world always looks a little different in shades of gray - or of sepia, or of platinum, or of ...

Post a monochrome or two, taken any time, with any camera, of any subject, processed any way you like. Please post your pictures as a response to this opening message.

Feel free to comment - or not - on any of the posts.

How does the world look to you?

Geese on the pond
In reply to CJackJr, Nov 9, 2012

I woke up Sunday morning and looked out the bedroom window to notice these cruising the pond. I grabbed the camera and was able to get a few quick shots before they decided they did not like me around and took off. This was the best of the photos taken, not the best but I liked the play of the light on the water.

Regards, Conrad

Some people operate cameras. Others use them to create images. There is a difference.

The Kiss
In reply to CJackJr, Nov 9, 2012

Shaking it up on the dance floor.

E-5 & 14-35 mm f/2 at 25 mm, ISO 200, f/4, 1/100 sec with FL-50 bounced off big translucent white light fixture. I stood under the big broad hanging, interwoven glass tubes and waited for the action to happen in front of me.

It's a fine composition. I like the way you framed it. I'm seeing red, white and blue smoke. Nice contrast in B&W.

I really like that first shot.  The lighting is very nice and I like the subjects body language, he seems to really be into the song he is dancing to.

I like that 2nd shot also, the back light is great.

Anthropomorphic trees
In reply to CJackJr, Nov 9, 2012

A large portion of my current work focuses on trees, and specifically those with human-like traits:

Stranglehold

Secrecy of the Knysna Forest

These were both shot on 6x7cm film (Mamiya RB67), and developed in my kitchen sink.

Very good picture. Is it you when you were a child? Big tree.

Excellent pose and composition.  The b&w treatment highlights the feather structure on the wing surfaces.  Very nice.

Nice tonal range and image (from the perspective of an image and not the destruction).

Thanks, this was taken last week after Hurricane Sandy. Many trees were knocked over in my town.
