SanDisk Extreme 32GB SDHC UHS-I Flash Card - Class 10 45MB/S

I like Sandisk cards.  They've been the most reliable for me.  It's $32 at Newegg.  Does this sound like a speedy card for the SX50 at a good price point?

Its perfect. I have one waiting for the SX50.  I have the 16GB version in my P510. Highly recommend cards.

I did not see on the Canon site that the SX50 is UHS-1 so the 45mbs ill be of very little help.  If the SX50 were UHS-1 then yes it would make a huge difference but I don't think it is.

When you use a UHS-1 SD in a NON UHS-1 system it defaults to a Class-10 SD.

I use both a Sandisk 95 mb/s 16g UHS-1/class-10 and a Amazon basics class-10 16g and get very little difference between them on a G1X.  On my Asus netbook built in SD reader I get 16.8 mb/s with the Amazon basics and 17.6 for the Sandisk extreme pro 95mb/s.  When I use a USB3 UHS-1 card reader I get 74.6 mb/s with the Sandisk and 17.7 mb/s with the Amazon.  Talking only about write speeds.

The one you mentioned in the subject heading.   Its not just USB speed, its also internal processing speed writing to the SD card.  This will assist with reducing shot-to-shot or burst mode lag time.   Go for it, Monica.

Monica, I have the same card in both my S100 and my new SX50.  Seems pretty speedy in the S100 and so far reliable.  Just haven't used the SX50 enough to determine its speed and reliability.  I have used two Class 10 Amazon Basic cards in the past and both went "poof" after just a few months.  YMMV.

I would stay with the card you have its a good card for a good price and who knows your next camera will be UHS-1.

I think a lot of people see what they want to see.  Do a simple test take 10 shots at a clock with a sec hand and see how long it takes, try it with a UHS-1 and then a class 10

At this time I think that Canon only makes two cameras with UHS-1, the EOS M and the T4i. Even the $3500 5dIII does have it

I use Sandisk memory cards I don't need or go past 32gb I find the only camera I own that really takes advantage of the faster class 10 speeds, is my Canon 7D since the upgrade to it's firmware. My other Canons see no change in how quickly they work with them. Most of the name changing Scandisk does is for marketing, plain and simple, people see the new names and think it's the faster card. Their results tell them nothing has really changed except for the higher price they paid.

I formatted that card in my SX50 without any problem.  I put the card into a USB 3.0 card reader and it transfered photos at full 45MB/s speed.  Lightning quick!  It will come in very handy when the card is loaded up with photos and videos.

Best Buy had a Sandick 64gb class 10 on sale for $49US so I bought one for the new G15. not that it will really be needed in that camera, but I can always use it in my DSLRs if I use the video mode.

Sandick sounds like a fake

There was a wink after that.. looks like only smiles are allowed.

I often (more often than not) get the "busy" screen when I take a picture using this Sandisk card and a 4GB Sandisk Extreme Class 6.   Is that normal for this camera?

I've only taken a dozen pictures so far in testing the camera and I have not experiened anything like what you've described.   I'll assume you arent shooting larger raw files.  Format your card in camera and try again.  If its still doing it, I can only assume the card is faulty.. which would be unusual.. unless its a fake sandisk.   Maybe its a Sandick?
