These crazy Hassel-people must keep their hands of the RX100. It s a travesty, they must think that their rich wannabe customers are professionally stupid.

Here's A Hasselblad Lunar Review:

Love the review. The sad fact is very wealthy people pay exorbitant prices for stuff all the time. Look at what they pay for exotic sports cars that are only marginally better than a Corvette. They pay huge amounts for exotic materials and extreme fit and finish. It's all about image.

Its similar to the Leica/Panasonic partnership. You can always just buy Sony and not Hassy. Its customer choice.

Ha! I was just about to add a comment about Vertu phones. Now that's truly insane. $80000 for technology that is obsolete almost as soon as it hits the shelves. Same consumers I guess...

The news of how Hasselblad is degrading themselves is sort of like hearing that Audrey Hepburn was out turning tricks.

Burlesque
In reply to mgatov, Sep 26, 2012

The nicest word, that comes to my mind, is burlesque.

"Burlesque is a literary, dramatic or musical work intended to cause laughter by caricaturing the manner or spirit of serious works, or by ludicrous treatment of their subjects"

Cadillac once took a Chevy Cavalier and rebadged it as the Cadillac Cimmeron. That albatross of history is still hanging around their neck. Hasselblad should have learned from history.

If there is one question I could ask Hasselblad, it would be: On a scale of 1 to 10, just how stupid do you think we are?

I personally don't like that particular Hasselblad. But I do like the Lunar, though - looks pretty unusual.

Also, you can't really compare Cavalier with RX100. RX100 is top of the line point and shoot, while Cavalier was the cheapest Chevy as far as I recall. Wasn't it?

D700, RX100

The comparison stands. Its about charging more for a badge and nothing more. Even rich people will hopefully have some common sense.

I honestly don't think this partnership is helping either company look good.

I have the RX-100 and am thoroughly happy with it. I wasn't denigrating it, rather Hasselblad for slapping a Lunar shell on the NEX-7 and then charging mega-bux more for it. That type of thing might work for Paris Hilton, though.
