I don't think it's confirmed as a Sony sensor, it may be a Nikon in house design fabbed by either Renesas or Sony. According to the DPR listed specs they are not the same....

D600 Sensor Size: 35.9x24mm
D600 Max Res: 6016×4016

A99 Sensor Size: 35.8×23.8MM
A99 Max Res: 6000×4000

I agree... There is still some doubt about this one and the 24Mpx APSC of the D3200 (at least no offcial confirmation).

I fully believe the D3200 sensor wasn't made by Sony, for the sensor looking different from any other Exmor (Pentax and Nikon implementations included) and the output does too (slight difference in DR curve, white dots at higher ISO's that we haven't seen from Exmor sensors since about 2008).

I was sceptical about the D600 sensor too, but since I've seen the sensor and especially after seeing these results, I fully believe it's an Exmor.

Nice to see a high score for the 24Mpx FF
Actually... Is it confirmed that it is a Sony sensor ?

http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/eng.../Cameras/Camera-Sensor-Database/Nikon/D600

For comparison:

D800E: 96 pts
D800: 95 pts
D600: 94 pts

A900: 79 pts
A77: 77pts

Waiting the A99...

I'd say between 88 and 91. It loses about half a stop in terms of SNR due to the SLT design, it might lose a hair for using stronger CFA's and PDAF dedicated pixels, it gains in the arbitrary overall score for offering ISO 50. That's the main reason why the difference between the A77 (offers ISO 50 too) and NEX 7 ( not ISO 50) is a mere 3 points, while based on the SLT design alone you'd expect about 5 to 6 points.

I think is all about marketing with this DXO ranking. The company who gives more > money gets better score ... the one who doesn't gets a crappy rank . PPl must be naive > to think that is no marketing in that ' top sensors ' from DXO .

DXO's method is explained in depth and produces fully reproducible results. Take the camera, do the measurements (you can do them at home), and see you results.

That is assuming of course that you're smart enough, unlike what your post suggests.

thanks for showing us to these results...

amazes me that the new sony sensor is more than 3 stops ahead of the canon one...this is far more impressing for me as 1/3 more noise stop .....really good job from sony on that aspect.

that will settle. So we can expect A99 to be in 90 pt range.

thank you
Exactly same thoughts of mine.....the A99's AF performance can be better

Nice find, thank you.

If this is the same sensor as in the 99 (give or take a few nikon optimizations) then we may expect the same performance, minus the SLT penalty which is usually 3-5 dxo points (1/5-1/3 of a photographic stop). So we might expect a solid dxomark=90 for the 99!

On a side note this is 11 points, or 2/3 of a stop better than the A900. Given the high price tag I'm not sure that this is going to make A900 users switch, except those who are craving for a better AF system.
