When will Nikon announce a newer version of it's 1V camera system?
The 1J2 is already rumored, to be expected at Photokina in Germany.

v2 - 2013

2012 - one or two more lenses, one of which is fast prime, possibly a smaller than J1 body style. They simply don't have Sony/Panasonic level engineering machine behind them. Also the atomic bomb that Sony used with the RX100 will change their plans as well.

The camera will be called Nikon 1 J2 or Nikon J2 ?
I never understood the nikon mirrorless name, by the way.
The cameras were called nikon j1, nikon j2 .
Why then they are called the 1 , system ?
They should have been called the J and the V system.

After the J1 come the j2.., j3..,j4..., so to call it the 1 system does not make sense.
Same goes for the V system.

Afterword : After looking once again to the camera , I reached the conclusion my post did not make sense. Actually the camera is called ( by nikon itself ) Nikon 1 system.
Being so it does make sense people call it that way.

The origin of the name "Nikon 1" is probably derived from the sensor size, what is an "1 inch sensor", in the so lovely bizarre lingo adapted by the industry. The ah so popular "4/3rd sensor" is by compare a 1.33" sensor etc.

Look it up on Wikipedia, they have a nice writeup about the (fossil) origin of these confusing sensor sizes. I wish we would have just mm sizes, or mm^2 surface, or maybe even a "focal length ratio" to the 35mm film frame sensor.

There are rumors circulating that there will not be a V2. Instead, Nikon will bring out a professional quality mirrorless using a larger sensor (> 1" but

Interesting, but I highly doubt this is the case - it would involve a whole new range of lenses.

Agreed that a bigger mirrorless has to wait till, say, the D600?!

Recent lowering of the prices of the V1 might mean a V2 will arrive sooner than planned?!

Where have you heard them? Re: Nikon 1V2, when?

Usually Nikon's new systems are already developed thru many patents, as was teh case of the N1 system. There are no such patents so far.

Amazon and other sites have started selling the V1 at a higher discount ($300 off now). Is a V2 coming out soon? Perhaps.

We already have lots of consumer & pro grade DSLRs and we don't need a new APSC mirrorless according to me... We need a professional grade V2 instead which has same CX sensor (no preview, APSM dial, water resistance, standart flash etc)... This tiny sensor is a real miracle IMO...

I'd be all over that like a rash! Throw in fast 20 and 30mm primes and we'd have a killer prosumer system.

The V1 is ok for weight but to be honest it just keeps annoying me when i try to use it. The D300s feels like such a speed daemon in comparison and I always have significantly fewer missed shots.

The Nikon Micro Four-Thirds!

To be serious, I can't see that happening anytime soon... it would be an admission of the failure of Nikon 1 / CX.

An enthusiast camera has to have an X G or D in the model and or number

The enthusiast Nikon 1 camera will probably be the X1 or VX1 if V stands for viewfinder....

I don't think the RX1 upsets Nikons plans. Far from it. Suddenly the world believes in what a sensor this size can do

It would be pretty pointless...

it would be an admission of the failure of Nikon 1 / CX.

...it would be a totally diffrent system which is not possible to make at the level of technology we are today.

Hope it will come soon and wouldn't mind having that Sony 20mp sensor from the Rx100 in it.

Couldn't care less about the V2, regardless of the sensor, unless they release some new nice lenses first.
