Tamron 01F aperture readout
In reply to declan79, Aug 18, 2013

I believe you are referring to the two aperture readouts, the one on the lens and the other on the 01F.

The Tamron 01F aperture readout shows the effective aperture when using the tele converter with its 2 stop light loss.  When the lens aperture set at f/4 the converter's aperture readout indicates f/8.

The Tamron extension tube 18F for the 90mm f/2.5 adaptall lens does not have its own aperture readout or glass elements.  (I have both the 01F and 18F)

With either of these units TTL exposure metering compensates for the light loss and then you fine tune the exposure based upon the histogram.

I tried to get some quality macro just before heavy rain, then I figured it out that at this moment I've tried to put it right twice but it seems stay the same... When the aperture is set to 2.5, the 01f combo is on 1stop after (4).

Is it right?

Am I right in thinking it's the "adaptall" mount? If so, I may pick up an adaptor and buy a copy of this lens, as the results look pretty nice indeed!

Is there much difference between the 72B and 52B? Is there any disadvantage in my buying the 1:1?

Mine the original Adaptall mount, I believe there's several in the market that has been changed the mount.

The 72b is totally different lens with 52b,never tried before but for the 01f it can be used with several Adaptall lens mount... You can check www.adaptall2.com

I'm thinking that the native 1:1 would be the way to go, as I would like the option to easily do close-up macro work. It seems to be plastic too, which is good for weight on NEX.

These lenses appear to be really sharp and have great bokeh, as well.

The second 01F won't show the effective aperture because its not coupled to the aperture ring like the first 01F.   The first 01F correctly shows f/5 , which is 2x f/2.5.  You'll just have to remember that your shooting at 4x from whatever aperture you select on the lens itself.

Noted, thanks for the explanation so I decided not to sell any
