Actually, the f/2.8 replaced the f/2.5 lens. My dyslexia struck again!

The 2.8 (model 72B) goes 1:1 without need of a separate tube.

I have both versions of the 90mm 2.5.

My oldest version has a little less CA than the second version. At least the first version has an internal floating lens group for better correction at macro and portrait distance.

Another very good and compact mf tamron lens is the adaptall 135mm 2.5.

Take a look at http://www.adaptall-2.org for a description and some resolution tests for tamron adaptall and SP mf lenses.

Gr.

Do you happen to have a p/n for the extension tube? Is it a Tamron accessory?

Tamron 18F extension tube (1:2 - 1:1).

I'm confused here with the different between this 18f&01f? I also had the one with the glass inside, it's the tele converter... It look similar but different inside, anyone can help me with?

01F is the 2x tele-converter - http://www.adaptall-2.org/lenses/01F.html

Some of them have the knurled rubber like this one:

The one I have has the other type of rubber ring

18F has no glass.  Its just a tube that puts the lens further out to allow for 1:1 macro.

With the 18F you won't loose any IQ because your not putting any additional glass in between the lens and the sensor.  Only downside is you loose your ability to focus to infinity. So you can only really use the 18F for macro work.

I've used the Tamron SP 90mm with the 01F and don't see any noticeable degradation of IQ.

The Tamron SP 90mm is very sharp and works great for me and is becoming my favorite lens.

So, you said that the 1st and 2nd photo is the same 01f but different versions /model... Both has a same functionality?

Yes, I also have the 18f (1:1)with 90/2.5 for macro and the one with a glass inside... Which caused me a little bit confused is the difference between the 01f and the glass one

If it has glass it is a 01F  2x tele-converter. (same model but two different styles)

The 18F should just be a hollow tube.  The 18F will get you 1:1 macro, but if you try and focus of a distance subject it will not focus toward infinity.

The 01F will turn your 90mm into a 180mm lens and you can achieve 1:1 macro and can focus to infinity. But will also double your max aperture from 2.5 to 5

Hi,

I find that my 01f consists of two separate tube :
-01f s/n 31504 (this one with optical glass)
-01f s/n 109533 (w/o glass)
Both has teleconverter 2x marking on the body

So, yes I had the 3rd 18f for 1:1 macro with the 90/2.5,

My confused is it has to put on both the 01f for effective 2x or only the one with the optical glass only?

I do fully agree on the sharpness part. And I love the exterior design of the 80s Tamron SP lenses. The black, industrial and serious look is appealing. In fact quite close to modern black E-mount lenses. I have several, from the fairly rare SP 17mm f/3.5 (51B) to the even rarer SP 300mm f/5.6 (54B). Not really valuable lenses, but not that common either.

There's one thing that should be pointed out about the SP 90mm f/2.5 (52B). It has an almost flat surface on the last lens element, which can cause some internal reflection issues with digital cameras. The light bounces off the shiny sensor surface and back to the lens and back again. This can be observed in some tricky light conditions as a faint blueish circle in the middle of the image. I have seen it a few times, mostly in outdoor shots. In a controlled environment this can easily be avoided.

For those who wants to read up on these smart Adaptall lenses, there is a great site about them: http://www.adaptall-2.org/

I think you have a broken or modified 01f. Did you recently purchase the 01f s/n 109533?  Or did it come with the lens?  I have heard of people knocking out the glass in a broken 01f to make it an extension tube.

So you only need to put on the 01f w/ glass s/n 31504 to get 2x focal length and 1:1 macro.

You also can put on the 01f w/o glass s/n 109533 to get 1:1 macro but you will not get 2x focal length or ability to focus to infinity.

You can stack the both  01f get 2:1 macro or add the 18f if you still have it to goto 3:1 macro

Yes it's a little broke with the glass but won't affect, how do you know? , so now I really get this 01&18f clearly... Many thanks for your kind answer

Really exciting with 2:1 or even more macro

I tried to get some quality macro just before heavy rain, then I figured it out that at this moment I've tried to put it right twice but it seems stay the same... When the aperture is set to 2.5, the 01f combo is on 1stop after (4).

Is it right?
