Nex7 plus nikon 50mm 1.2....Good idea?
Jun 19, 2012

Hi guys I am still debating if to get the nex7 or not, and if I do, will still have to choose the lens options.

Any comments regarding using the nikon 50mm 1.2 with the nex7. I could get that lens and also use it with the nikon dslr.

Or maybe go with the voigtlander nocturn, 35mm 1.2 or 50mm 1.2 and as well use it the nex7 or with my film camera.

So in both cases lesne will be used double time... Thanks!!!!

Example picts will be really apreciated. (Sadly here in Brazil no way to test these combinations).

I love Nikon 50mm 1.2 Ai-S and owned one at the time with Nikon D700, what a great combo. Sold it though after a while. I did not own NEX at the time, how I wish I did. Now I use NEX 5n with Nikkor 35 F/1.8G DX and it is a lot of fun, but F/1.2 Ai-s is an interesting lens. It is not sharp at all at F/1.2 but recovers nicely by F/2.

Look up eths's gallery, he has a bunch of 50mm f/1.2 AI-s shots with his NEX. I believe he likes it quite alright.

Hi thanks for the examples. The cat picture is crazy sharp. Looks as the head is coming out of the computer screen, and the detail for being iso 3200 not bad at all. At what aperture was it shoot?

Do you have any portraits with it?

Thanks very much for your examples!!!!.

Well it seems that if i manage to sell my m6 I will get this lens, and use it as well with the dslr. If I dont sell the m6, I will get the voigtlander 35mm 1.2. Kind of leaving it to luck.

The Nikon Nikkor 50mm/f1.2 AIS lens works like a dream on the Nex-7.

IIRC, these were taken using the 50/1.2 from Nikon:

The cat photo doesn't look that sharp to me, but the black butterfly

I am fairly sure that the cat was shot at f1.2, and the butterfly is probably also at f1.2, but I really don't know any more.
