One from Germany and one from New Mexico
In reply to Rriley, May 26, 2012

Heidelburg, Germany. I'd like to even out the exposure across the frame, but I have neither the tools or the know-how. I guess I'll have to do something about that situation:)

I took this a few weeks after I got my E-520. If I remember correctly, I was playing with it in O Master 2 and bumped up contrast and sharpness a little. Perhaps too much?

Rusty Tin Roof

When the sun comes out in Ireland: yes, the grass is that color and the rusted corrugated tin roofs are that interesting shade of orange . . . .

Dutch polder
In reply to Rriley, May 26, 2012

Driving in the polder with only my E3 and 70-300 looking for birds I saw this old farm.

For a wide enough picture I shot 6 vertical frames and stitched them with PT gui. 6x70mm,f7.1.

Bartholome, a desert island
In reply to Rriley, May 27, 2012

Looking south from the top of Bartholome Island in Galapagos Island achipelago, Ecuador. The island is an arid volcanic rocky place. Just a few patches of green in places. Penguins swim around the shallows here. Galapagos is the farthest place north of antartica where penguins live. I added an underwater image below.
Olympus C-8080 at 28 mm, ISO 100, f/4.5, 1/60 sec

Lots of marine life. I found this stingray while snorkeling just offshore in about 10 feet of water.

C-8080 at 28 mm, ISO 50, f/5, 1/125 sec. in an Ikelite underwater housing with dome port and uw strobe.

The award winning Te Rewa Rewa bridge.

Not just a bridge but a vision of art shared between local council, designer and local iwi (Maori tribe) respecting local history and culture.
Must be one of the most photographed scenes in the area.

Cheers,

Harm

Nice pic of a beaut building, but what's with the flagpole. Don't they realise that people might not want it in their pictures

especially the view of Taranaki.

I have a fascination with NZ volcanoes. Taranaki was hidden by clouds when I was there, but we managed to get some spectacular views of Ruapehu and Ngauruhoe. Been wanting to go back and climb to the summit of Ngauruhoe - on my bucket list

Thanks for showing this one

Peter

Bisti Badlands
In reply to Rriley, May 27, 2012

Telephoto shots done with Olympus E-PL1 + m.Zuiko 40-150. Wide shots done with Panasonic GH2 + Zuiko 11-22. Post processing done with LR4.

Last time I was in the Bisti Badlands, I was unable to find a feature which photographers call the "egg factory", because I had the wrong GPS coordinate. It was a difference of only a few hundred feet, but with the winding canyons and the small size of the features in this area that was enough of a margin to never see it. But I found it this time, the night of the eclipse.

There was an unusual turnout of visitors to the area. Usually the entire area gets about 10 visitors a day. Some were here viewing the eclipse. Some were just on their way from somewhere to somewhere else and happened across the Bisti wilderness. While the sun was still up hardly a minute went by without someone asking someone else to get out of their light. ISO 1600, 1/25 sec at 150mm with image stabilization handheld, I'm not displeased with the E-PL1's performance here.

And to round out the next morning before I packed up my tent and headed out (the dawn light was terrible so I didn't get anything else before the sun came up)

For more information, I have a writeup on the Bisti Badlands here:
