Thanks for the heads up on this promotion. Just ordered one at the special price for my GH2. £1000 would have been a no go but £700 was too good to miss. It sound like the perfect lens for the larger m4/3 cameras. always use to love the 24-50 focal length in my Pentax film cameras days.

If they can make this offer before the launch (and I imagine, still make a healthy profit), I'll bet that this is a good indicator of the street price after a few months or so.

The 25mm f1.4 and Panasonic 100-300 (if not all the Panasonic lenses) are now widely available in the UK for much lower prices than the original RRP.

Glad it was useful, I made the thread thinking on people who want to buy it, because I have to wait a bit, and could not be on the first 10 buyers

Good you make it

Yes, wait a bit is good, or hurry up for this one, maybe they extend the offer to more than the first 10 buyers, or maybe they do another one until the price drops

Shops should do also offers like these

Strange they make no mention of 'f2.8':

' New LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm standard zoom lens special offer '

A 2.8 constant zoom is anything but 'standard'.

Just seems strange to me no to mention the one main selling point of their new lens.

I took up the original Panasonic shop offer on the 45-175. After a number of months, the current price plus cash back matches roughly what I paid.

The 20 mm pancake has not dropped much in price. The 14 mm however, because of the breaking up of kits, has dropped by a lot.

'Standard' refers to the focal length range, it has nothing to do with the speed of the lens... a 12-35mm 0.95 lens would still be a 'standard zoom'.

Not sure what you're getting at with the exclusion of the 2.8 aperture. Think people might get shipped a 3.5-5.6 zoom instead?

Yes standard is for the kind of focal length But they could have mentioned anyway

Thanks, this is a good indication of the price that this lens will reach within 6-12 months when it will be available from discount retailers. I'll wait...

You are reading too deeply.

My post is clear: Panasonic should shout '2.8 constant' fom the roof tops.

And 'standard' relating to zooms is not a constant aperture lens, generally speaking.

The price tags confirm they are not 'standard' in any fashion.

I think I will wait for the 'Pro' camera mentioned by Panasonic, buy that body, and the 2.8 lens above nd then the 35-100 2.8 when it comes out and I won't ever have to buy another camera. Alot of money but I wlll trade what I have.

And so rare these days. Look at this case. A potential costumer complaining that the seller was not brash enough

Glad you admit it is true.

The reviews on this lens allows them to be 'brash' as you put it in your idiom.

In the business world there is no room for 'modesty'.

You got it for £270 at launch? That's pretty good.

The 20 mm pancake has not dropped much in price. The 14 mm however, because of the breaking up of kits, has dropped by a lot.

The 20mm can be had for £240, the RRP is currently £357. These aren't everyday prices, you have to bide your time and shop around, but in the UK at least it's not just the bodies that go down in price.
