Really cool image!

Somehow I totally missed even the existence of this eclipse, I am very very sad...

Well done Barry

I am on the East Coast of Aust & in a good spot for the Transit of Venus is in two weeks. The dot in front of the sun will only be 1% of this.
Cheers

Outstanding, Barry. I was really hoping someone would capture this event -- it wasn't visible in the Land of Oz.

Nice shot Barry. How did you handle the exposure, etc. Did you have a filter on the front?

Hi John-

No filters- just set on tripod turned off OS- the red color comes from dust kicked up fron the wind- pretty common out here. I shot several with a d300 as well and it rendered the reds deeper and more magenta- nice look but I don't think as faithful as the SD15

I frequent both this forum (DP2X) and the Pentax forum (1st D and K-5). This is by far the best posted image between the two forums.

Excellent image.

I troll a lot of web imagery and this is the best I've seen.
