Mostly walkaround snaps, downsized to 12Mp - click on Original for full size JPG.
First group is 19mm, second group is 30mm. More in album.

The 19mm seems to have the same terrible CA/PF issue that I hate in the 16mm...

Any chance of having a comparison with the kit lens?

Hmm, while not very spectacular, the first set of pictures show how much DR the Nex-7 has, the forest shots seem effortless in capturing light and shadow without overly strong contrast - pics look very natural, almost like the eye sees it. Maybe the WB is a tiny bit too warm?

Nevertheless good to see those pictures, because lots of samples I have seen from the 2 sigmas looked way to bluish and cool, I may give the 19mm a try.

What converter did you use? Or was it JPEG?

Greetings
Bernie

The 19mm has grown on me, like it more than at first.

Most pics were done in 'iAuto' mode.

Flow was downsample only in LR3.6, from RAW. Using defaults, no adjustments.

Nope, back home now. All I had with me were the two sigmas.

I think it is sensor related. I see it on all wide angle lenses, including the E24Z.

Mostly with dark silhouettes against bright sky.

Besides, Ptlens, LR, DxO all have correction software that helps, none was applied here.
Even the in-camera adjustment may remedy some of this, don't know for sure.

I 'm using the Sigma 30mm which is a very sharp lens , but I see your pics are not as sharp , I can see the camera shake from your pics , please try to set higher iso like 200 or 400 , shutter speed not lower than 1/150 , hold your cam at waist level , use the flip up screen to compose , use your thumb to press the shutter button , than your cam can be held steadily , you'll gain very sharp photo .

Cheers

I think those look great. Thanks for sharing.

Was it you who tried the 19/2.8 with some sort of wide adapter? If so, do you have any further comments on that combo?

Thx, it wasn't me, but I did try and held the 12mm VCL-ECU1 adapter in front of the 19mm. The result was less than desirable - there is no good (screw/mount) fit, and it seems very sensitive as to where the glass is positioned - the glass surfaces almost have to touch each other.

The VCL-ECU1 works with the Sony 16mm and the Sony 30mm - it clicks right on.

Other adapters that I have (tried), both wide and tele, have been disappointing (vignetting). Only Zackiedawg has great results with the Sony 1.7x tele adapter.

To upload more pics - per picture size limit at dpreview is 16Mp, but the monthly allotment in disk usage is 200MB. 16Mp files are almost twice the size or 13Mp files, allowing only half the amount of pictures to be uploaded.

It also seemed a natural 2:1 ratio.

I also have the 24Mp JPGs - these actually seem sharper than the 12Mp - possibly because the sharpness ratio for the Nex-7 should have been increased from the LR3 defaults.

Tell me about it. I came within 10 MB of the monthly limit in the first 4 days of the month because I didn't realize there was a month limit. So now I have to link everything I want to show from Flickr, which isn't ideal. These large file sizes don't allow many photos to be posted to the site if you want full sized. I think I posted 12 or so photos from Afica and then I couldn't upload any more (at full size). That's not a lot of photos of originals if you're busy participating in challenges and discussions.

Sorry to hijack a bit.

Thanks -- sorry for the mixup. I've got the wide adapter and use it occasionally on the 16, which is adequate for lots of stuff. It seems unlikely that any adapter would be much good on the 19, but someone here said they were pleased with the results. Not sure who, though.

Good use of lines in there Henry. Nice colours and I love the bridge shot. I'm a sucker for perspective and lines, that bridge does it for me.

All the best Henry, nice shooting.
