M43 Onion New

Calvin Klein has just announced they have joined the Micro Fourthirds consortium. Calvin Klein was particularly impressed with recent discussions on DPR, regarding "Obsession." We have discussed obsessing over IQ, not obsessing, obsessing about obsessing... between our love of images and 100% pixel peeping lies our madness. It's our secret. Secret M43 obsession.

Instructions:
1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE.

2. Older photos are fine. Please tell us about how you captured the image.

3. Please reply to at least one other thread.

Thank you for your participation!

The garden has begun to erupt...
In reply to SLOtographer, May 19, 2012

This year I was delighted to find out that three of the twelve Iris bulbs that I had planted last year had survived the @!!&$%?!! chipmunk onslaught and managed to bloom.

Boy are they hard to photograph! You need lots of DOF at close range to get most of the flower in focus...I ended up using the 100-300 and the 14-140mm instead of the 55mm Nikon macro lens instead. Fortunately that did work ok.

Surprisingly enough, I think all of these are from the JPGs, not RAWs from the GH2. I seem to have found the formula that works for me with it in terms of color rendition: I do not use Auto WB most of the time (that helps the most, I think). The presets (sunny, cloudy, etc.) work much better, and in a really tough situation, I use custom WB. Also, I use the NATURE profile, and then push the color balance two clicks to the left towards yellow, and one click down towards magenta. This combo most of the time gets me really close to the actual colors of the scene in JPG. (I keep NR set to -2 also, but leave the other parameters at 0)

Today I get to put in the annuals. Portulaca, ageratum, mini dahlias (if I try and put full sized dahlia bulbs in the ground, I will be feeding the chipmunks for a month instead of getting flowers, so that is right out ), asters and celosia make up the low part of the bed. The rest of it is perennials; fairly tall perennials, actually, and I suspect my neighbors will hate me since it is going to be a bit on an exuberant, slightly disorganized looking riot of color...

Oh well.

Much more fun to photograph that way for me, though, as things bloom

I love spring and summer!

Hey Bob. Where is that waterfall? Just curious; it almost looks familar.

That last one is supremely creepy. Nicely done . Great juxtaposition of objects there.

Nice set!

The boat shot is very striking but wow...the last shot takes it. Please tell me it was set up and you weren't lucky enough to stumble across that scene?

I know what you mean, I feel like I've seen something like this before (but not at this location). This is at the Gilboa Reservoir, Conesville (where 990v and 7 meet).

[chuckle] That figurehead was found on site there, but I positioned it for that shot (and the broader reservoir/sunset scene). She's now in my bag - wouldn't you, if she looked at you like that?

I'd probably agree with that - although strangely I thing the complex image of the Butter Market (no 1) also works well for me.

The thing I love about these Oly filter effects is that you actually take the picture using them - which to me seems very different to paying around in Photoshop.
